Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever’s worst
Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever’s worst
We try to fix something but you can’t fix what you can’t see
It’s the soul that needs the surgery
– Beyoncé Knowles, “Pretty Hurts”
It’s 12 : 09 PM on day 1467 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Proverbs 5, publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself egg with bread and a banana for breakfast and make sandwiches for our sisi’s (housekeeper’s) neighborhood with sisi’s help as part of Virginia’s Sandwich Run while listening to music – I am really enjoying Luke Bryan‘s Crash my Party album.
Yesterday I heard “Pretty Hurts” by Beyoncé Knowles the song is basically commentary on society’s obsession with having the “perfect” body the lyrics of the song are so powerful you would have to be made of stone not to be moved by it. Listen to “Pretty Hurts” by Beyoncé Knowles below:
