“The refugees I have met and spent time with have profoundly changed my life. Today I want to thank them for letting me into their lives.”– UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie
It’s 12 : 34 PM on day 1464 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, go back to sleep, brush my teeth, read Proverbs 2, help my brother study for his English exam – if I never hear about concords again it will be too soon LOL – publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself a peanut butter sandwich and a banana for breakfast and read 500 days to global education: The IRC takes the pledge.
Recently I watched “Angelina Jolie speak on World Refugee Day 2009 – Full” what really moved me about Angelina’s speech was the depth of compassion that she had for the refugees she met I really felt her and through her eyes I saw refugees not as numbers but as people.
