People only see what they are prepared to see. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
It’s 7: 05 PM on day 274 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a banana for breakfast, watch TV, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck 🙁 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch some more TV, feed myself a banana for dinner and brush my teeth once more.
As you know I believe there is a lesson in EVERYTHING which is why I wasn’t surprised when I learned a few things about life from Twitter and they are:
- People everywhere want the same things – e.g. a mother in America wants her child to be happy, healthy and successful as does a mother in Spain
- Judge not a country by what you hear and see in the media – before I joined Twitter I thought Americans were arrogant and selfish largely due to how they were pained in the media but now I know that nothing could be further from the truth Americans are kind, generous and REALLY hardworking – some of them have to take on more than one job just to make ends meet.
- There are more good people out there than bad – in the course of raising money for my Clean Water For All Campaign I have approached people – both offline and online – for donations and some have donated while others have not but the stories that have really made me go wow are those like that of Galen – a retired OT and mother of TEN kids with special needs who somehow found the money to make a donation to my campaign in spite of the fact that she had all those kids to support
Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360
If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu
Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.
Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!
Galen is amazing. Thanks for sharing Galen’s story with us.
Yes she is! You’re most welcome 🙂
Yours truly,
Nisha
