Day 1228: “Undefeated” by Daughtry

Music expresses what words cannot – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1228 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth,  read 2 Chronicles 31,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,   promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign –no donations so far today either I’ll just keep trying winners never quit and quitters never win – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings – my right knee hurt so bad while my hamstrings were being stretched I hope I didn’t pull anything that’s the last thing I need right now.

A few days ago I heard “Undefeated” by Daughtry the lyrics of this song have so much meaning to me it’s my life’s new theme song. Listen to “Undefeated” by Daughtry below:

Day 1227: Pushing past bad days to achieve success

“Life is not a success only journey.” – Dr.Phil

It’s 12  : 27 PM on day 1227 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,   read 2 Chronicles 30, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so far today I am not worried God is with me and I’m working hard I can’t fail I just have to be patient and continue working hard – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings, spend time outside – I sometimes go sit outside by myself some people think it’s weird but I enjoy it and that’s all that counts 🙂 – and promote my campaign some more – still no donations so far today.

Today I feel like every door I knock on is being slammed in my face but I’ve decided to keep going knowing something good is right around the corner. Do you expect to be successful every day of your life and feel disappointed when you aren’t?

Day 1226: Taylor Smith’s Letter to Herself

“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.” ― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

It’s 12  : 04 PM on day 1226 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray,  brush my teeth,   read 2 Chronicles 29,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so far today but Anonymous donated £10 yesterday (thank you Anonymous) which brings my total raised to (drum roll please) $101.11 which gets me 10% to my goal not bad considering the campaign started less than ten days ago (thank you God for all your help I can’t see you but I know you’re here)- practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and listen to music.

This morning I watched “Heartbreaking letter written by a 12 year old girl” – a video in which Taylor Smith’s father reads aloud the letter his daughter wrote to her future self before she died suddenly of pneumonia – Taylor’s wisdom BLEW ME AWAY and her death has made appreciate my life more. Watch “Heartbreaking letter written by a 12 year old girl” below:

Day 1225: Pro Infirmis « Because who is perfect?

We still have a long way to go to achieve inclusion – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12  : 12 PM on day 1225 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth,  feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,   read 2 Chronicles 28, publish my Disability of the Day feature promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so far today (sigh).

Yesterday my sister sent me a link to “Pro Infirmis «Because who is perfect?” – an advert featured on Upworthy about people making mannequins inspired by differently-abled people – I LOVE that they are showing the world that there’s more than one type of person in the world but I HATE the tagline of the advert “Because who is perfect?” differently-abled people like everybody else are perfectly made by God. Watch “Pro Infirmis «Because who is perfect?” below:

Day 1224: Putting religion into practice

Religion not practiced is like a light bulb without electricity– that’s what I realized today.

It’s 1  : 17 PM on day 1224 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, brush my teeth,  read 2 Chronicles 27,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,    feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, go to church – our reverend said something I’ll never forget he said our vocation as God’s people is to be His people wherever we find ourselves  – and continue reading To Kill A Mockingbird.

This morning my mom was watching a preacher on TV preach and I was listening the preacher said in not so many words that the problem with Christians today is that we don’t practice Christianity outside of the church I couldn’t agree more if all of us practiced in the real world what we are taught in our places of worship the world would be a much better place. Are you like a light bulb without electricity belonging to a religion but failing to put it into practice?

Day 1223: Being a part of the solution to the world’s problems

Most people would rather bury their heads in the sand and say a bunch of nothing instead of facing the world’s problems and trying to fix them– that’s what I realized yesterday 🙂

It’s 4  : 03 PM on day 1223 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, chat to my extended family in India via Skype,  read 2 Chronicles 26, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today either you know what they say try, try and try again – go visit family, go watch Delivery Man at the Hemingways Mall – it’s a movie about an irresponsible man who finds out he has 533 kids as a result of multiple sperm donations 20 years prior and that of those 533 kids upwards of 100 are suing to know his identity I really loved it, it was funny and heartwarming I give it a 10/10 – and feed myself brown rice, chickpea curry and stir fry veg for lunch.

Yesterday I realized most people would rather bury their heads in the sand and say a bunch of nothing instead of facing the world’s problems and trying to fix them a Facebook status about setting an alarm clock got more responses than my Facebook statuses about kids DYING of HIV/AIDS it’s so frustrating sometimes I feel like screaming I wish there was a way I could make people realize it is within their power to change the world. Do you face the world’s problems and try to fix them or say it’s not my problem?

Day 1222: Do you try to treat everybody well regardless of how they treat you?

You don’t have to treat people the way they treat you when people treat you with hate you can respond with love– that’s what I realized two days ago.

It’s 12  : 43 PM on day 1222 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth,  read 2 Chronicles 25, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but that’s okay I’ll keep trying I’m going to physiotherapy later today I’ll ask the people there to take a look at my fundraising page if I get a chance – stretch my hamstrings and listen to music – I LOVE Hall of Fame by The Script it’s my life’s theme song it never fails to motivate me.

Two days ago I read These 14 Unexpected Responses To Hatred Show That Humans Do Sometimes Get It Right – an article that tells stories of people who responded with love when they were treated with hate – reading this article has made me a better person it has made me realize you don’t have to treat people the way they treat you when people treat you with hate you can respond with love. Do you try to treat everybody well regardless of how they treat you?

Day 1220: My philosophy for a happy life: Sam Berns at TEDxMidAtlantic 2013

“Be OK with what you ultimately can’t do, because there is so much you CAN do.” – Sam Berns, My philosophy for a happy life: Sam Berns at TEDxMidAtlantic 2013

It’s 12  : 27 PM on day 1220 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray,  read 2 Chronicles 23,  feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – my mom donated $27 yesterday (thanks again mom) having raised funds many times before I know what to expect so this time I won’t be hurt when people ignore my emails and messages I’ll just keep going and going and going until I reach my goal besides God is with me I cannot fail He won’t let me 🙂

This morning I watched My philosophy for a happy life: Sam Berns at TEDxMidAtlantic 2013 – a Ted Talk detailing the three things all of us need to do to be happy by Sam Berns who died from Progeria, a rare genetic disease that causes premature aging, a few days ago – even though I don’t have Progeria I could relate to what he said about focusing on all the good things in your life I am not happy because my life is perfect I am happy because I see life through the lens of  gratitude. Day 1219: Eradicate AIDS – Fundraising for Elton John Aids Foundation (UK)

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Day 1218: Philip Zimbardo: The psychology of evil

“The line between good and evil is permeable and almost anyone can be induced to cross it when pressured by situational forces.” ― Philip G. Zimbardo, Philip Zimbardo: The psychology of evil

It’s 1  : 15 PM on day 1218 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, brush my teeth,  read 2 Chronicles 21,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast and hang out with my brother.

This morning I finished watching Philip Zimbardo: The psychology of evil – a Ted Talk that gives us insight into why some people do bad things while other people do good things – this talk proves that life is not black and white that all of us are capable of evil in the right situation. Watch the fascinating Philip Zimbardo: The psychology of evil below (Warning: The images in this video are very graphic):
