Day 1250: 7 Love Songs Perfect For Valentine’s Day

“Where there is love there is life.” – Mahatma Gandhi

It’s 12  : 40 PM on day 1250 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, go back to sleep – I woke up way too early – brush my teeth, read Nehemiah 7, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no luck.

Today is Valentine’s Day and to celebrate that I have put together a playlist of my favorite love songs. Listen to my favorite love songs below:

Day 1249: Patronize me all you like

Some people will never take me or what I do seriously– that’s what I’ve come to accept.

It’s 12  : 05 PM on day 1249 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, go back to sleep – I woke up way too early –  brush my teeth, read Nehemiah 6, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,    practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but Meg Guegan donated £10  yesterday (thanks again Meg your support means A LOT to me 🙂 ) which brings my total raised to $306.58 I’m SO GRATEFUL.

Two days ago someone came to visit and he asked me what I did while my parents were at work so I told him to which he said something like it’s good that you’re involved I felt so patronized people see the things I do as things I do to keep myself busy but it’s fine people can patronize me all they like I take what I do very seriously and work hard to achieve all my goals. Have you accepted the fact that for whatever reason some people will never take you or what you do seriously?

Day 1248: Different = tragic?

Being different is not tragic – that’s what I want the world to know.

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1248 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Nehemiah 5, feed myself bread with egg for breakfast,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – 8 days no donations so far.

Yesterday I read “Love Not Fear” – a blog post about how “experts” equate having Autism with being a tragedy and a burden – although I don’t have Autism I could relate to this post when people find out I have Cerebral Palsy they automatically assume that I live a sad and tragic life when in fact nothing could be further from the truth I LOVE my life I have a great family and friends and I spend every day of my life trying to make a difference in the world. Do you see someone who is visibly different and automatically feel pity because you assume that his or her life is worse than yours?

Day 1247: Life – a test of endurance

Life is basically an endurance test – that’s what I know.

It’s 12  : 24 PM on day 1247 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  read Nehemiah 4,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – 7 days no donations (sigh) – stretch my hamstrings  and spend time outside.

Today I decided that I am going to last the longest and reach all my goals even though I feel like things aren’t going my way right now because I know that it’s not the fastest or the smartest that eventually succeeds it’s the one that lasts the longest. Have you decided that you’re going to last the longest and succeed in the end?

Day 1245: Rising above and treating people well

How other people treat you is up to them how you treat other people is up to you– that’s what I keep realizing 🙂

It’s 1  : 25 PM on day 1245 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray, brush my teeth,  read Nehemiah 2,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature,  go to church – the preacher’s brother-in-law testified that he survived being held at gunpoint,  heart attacks and falling into a pit all by the grace of God and I believed him his story was pretty awe-inspiring  –  feed myself peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no luck today so far today.

This morning I felt really hurt by somebody and I think to keep from saying things I would later regret I repeated out loud bless those who curse you, bless those who curse you, let God be the judge between you and me let Him avenge all the wrongs you have done to me you can choose to rise above and treat people well even if they treat you badly. When people hurt you do you turn the other cheek or hurt them back?

Day 1244: Are you last on your priority list?

In order to help others you have to take care of yourself – that’s what I keep realizing 🙂

It’s 12  : 45 PM on day 1244 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Nehemiah 1, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today either.

Today I realized yet again that in order to help others I have to take care of myself so after I publish this post I am going to read or watch movies I can’t promise that I won’t promote Eradicate AIDS or do something else that I would usually do on a working day all I can promise is that I will try my best to relax. Are you last on your priority list?

Day 1243: A message from a non-sufferer of the disease to please

If you need to please everyone you won’t do anything meaningful with your life– that’s what I’ve come to realize.

It’s 12  : 08 PM on day 1243 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, read Ezra 10, publish my Disability of the Day feature, make sandwiches as part of Virginia’s Sandwich Run,   practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today either.

Yesterday I did something which I later regretted but now I realize I have nothing to regret what I did was perfectly legal and moral it’s just that some people in my life may feel like I embarrassed them if they find out what I did and I am sincerely sorry if they do end up feeling that way but at the end of the day I did what I did with the intention of making this world a better place. Is your need to please everyone stopping you from doing anything meaningful with your life?

Day 1242: Wondering about a different life? Guilty as charged

Wondering what it would be like to live a “normal” life doesn’t mean you don’t love the life you have – that’s what I realized last night.

It’s 12  : 17 PM on day 1242 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Ezra 9, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today   – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

Last night I couldn’t help wondering what it would be like to do ordinary things like go to the bathroom without help or run on the grass and I felt so guilty because I had such a great life but I realized wondering what it would be like to live a “normal” life doesn’t mean you don’t love the life you have. Do you feel guilty for wondering what it would be like to live a different life?

Day 1241: Navigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford

“I might not be able to choose what is easy for me or what is difficult. But I can choose how to use the abilities that I do have.” –Rachel Kolb, Navigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford

It’s 12  : 03 PM on day 1241 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Ezra 8, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but Alex Forshaw donated £10 and Renee donated $20  yesterday (thank you SO MUCH Alex and Renee your contributions and support mean the world to me) which brings my total raised to $290.21 I’m 29% to my goal I am SO HAPPY and GRATEFUL 🙂  – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings, spend time outside -today’s such a beautiful day here blue skies and sunshine so grateful to be alive to see this beautiful day – and promote my campaign some more – still on 29%.

Last night I watched Navigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford I could relate to Rachel’s story because I, like her, chose not to let the one thing I can’t do be the focal point of my life sure it’s frustrating that I don’t have as much freedom of movement as I’d like to have but I’ve learned to work around it either by doing things a little differently or by asking for help. Watch Navigating deafness in a hearing world: Rachel Kolb at TEDxStanford below:

Day 1240: You can make a difference but you can’t change the world?

The world is changed when you make a difference – that’s what I believe.

It’s 12  : 30 PM on day 1240 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  pray,  brush my teeth, read Ezra 7, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast, publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today but Paul and Juliet Merrell  over at  From A Parrot’s Nest donated $20 yesterday (thank you Paul and Juliet) which brings my total raised to $253.85 I’m 25% to my goal and it hasn’t even been a month since the campaign started I have some AWESOME family and friends 🙂 – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

This morning I was thinking about something somebody said to me you can make a difference but you can’t change the world I don’t know about that I believe the world is changed when you make a difference because if you didn’t do what you did to make a difference then it wouldn’t get done. Do you believe that the world is changed when you make a difference?
