Day 2116: Me on MetroFM with Criselda Dudumashe

It’s important to do something you’ve never done – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2116 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Galatians 5: 1  , have breakfast,   learn one new thing – Alongside cats and tigers, foxes are solitary hunters. There has been the rare sighting of a vixen hunting with her cub, but in general they will forage and hunt for food alone. Although a fox is classified as a carnivore they are omnivorous and will eat almost anything including fruit and vegetables.-and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –  raised $6 520 only  $5 980 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far : ) ) .

Last night I was on MetroFM being interviewed for the first time it was a new experience I learned a lot about myself and had lots of fun (thanks Criselda Dudumashe for making me feel so comfortable you did a fantastic job 🙂 ). Listen to my interview on MetroFM below (thanks Jess for recording the interview and putting it up):

Day 2115: Mastering Fear

“Do what you fear and fear disappears.” – David Joseph Schwartz

It’s 12 : 21  PM on day 2115 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read John 8: 36 , learn one new thing – The name Greenland comes from Scandinavian settlers. In the Norse sagas, it is said that Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland for murder. He set out in ships to find land rumoured to be to the northwest. After settling there, he named the land Grfnland (Greenland), possibly to attract more people to settle there. – have breakfast, go visit Josh and the kids at  UThixo Ulungile Ministries @ Stoney Drift – it was so much fun the kids are so sweet –    and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –Daleen Barnard  donated $25 (thanks so much Daleen) which brings the total raised to $6 520 only  $5 980 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Today I realized that if I don’t master my fear I will be enslaved to it so from now onwards fear won’t stop me I will use it as fuel to perform at my best.

Day 2114: Life and Going with the Flow

Life doesn’t always work out the way you plan you’ve just got to grow up and get over it– that’s what I’ve realized today.

It’s 12 :  37 PM on day 2114 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read  1 Timothy 6: 17, have breakfast, go clean my teeth – Dr. Stander did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth (thanks dude I promise to keep brushing my teeth twice a day (no cavities yay) ) –   learn one new thing – Venison is the meat of a game animal, especially a deer. Etymology:The word derives from the Latin vēnor (to hunt or pursue). This term entered English through Norman in the 11th century, following the Norman invasion of England, and the establishment of Royal Forests. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – someone who I think would prefer to remain anonymous donated $15 (thanks Anon) only  $6 005 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Day 2112: 25 Smiles Campaign Goal Surpassed Let’s Go For 50 Smiles

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”― Muhammad Ali

It’s 12 : 10  PM on day 2112 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Joshua 24: 15 , have breakfast, learn one new thing – If you were standing on the Moon, you would always see the Earth in exactly the same position, while the stars and the Sun moved around in the sky. The Moon takes 27.3 days to complete an orbit around the Earth. And this the same amount of time that it takes to turn once on its axis. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Anonymous  donated $20, Seemachechi donated $50 and Anush Alex donated $250 (thanks SO MUCH Anon, Seemachechi and Anush 🙂 ) which brings my total raised to $6 480 (thanks SO SO MUCH everyone for your support goal surpassed but campaign continues until the original end date, Jan 10 2017 [see next paragraph for details])

Last night I surpassed my 25 Smiles Campaign goal (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) since there’s so much time left before the end of the campaign on January 10, 2017 I have decided to double my fundraising target to try and raise enough money to sponsor 25 more smiles so by January 10, 2017 I’m hoping to raise $12 500 which will help Smile Train sponsor 50 cleft surgeries. If you would like to contribute to my goal of sponsoring 25 more smiles log on to bit.ly/Give25Smiles and make a donation (thank you so much in advance).

[Update January 12, 2017: Campaign ended 2 days ago. Final total raised is $10 317.04 [enough money to sponsor 41 smiles]]

Day 2111: Honoured to be a Mail & Guardian 200 Young South African 2016

Reality is sometimes a thousand times better than fantasy – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 11 : 24  AM on day 2111 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 John 4: 12, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Jupiter is the most massive planet in our Solar System, meaning it also has the highest gravity. If you stood on Jupiter – you cannot because it does not have a solid surface – than you would weigh two and a half times what you would on Earth. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – Deepthichechi and Jiya donated $125 each  (thanks SO MUCH Deepthichechi and Jiya   🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $6 160 only $90 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) [Thanks also to Brent Lindeque who wrote a post about me on Good Things Guy titled Nisha Varghese… a real South African hero has just joined the “Top 200 Young South African” alumni ] .

Yesterday I was humbled and honoured to find out that I’m on the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans list (every year the Mail & Guardian picks 200 South Africans from different fields of expertise and puts them on the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans list) I still can’t believe I made it on the list I’m truly humbled to be listed alongside so many phenomenal young South Africans reality is sometimes a thousand times better than fantasy.

Day 2110: My Real Greatest Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.” – Marianne Williamson

It’s 12 : 07  PM on day 2110 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Deuteronomy 31:6, have breakfast, learn one new thing – According to botanists (those who study plants) a fruit is the part of the plant that develops from a flower. It’s also the section of the plant that contains the seeds. The other parts of plants are considered vegetables. These include the stems, leaves and roots — and even the flower bud.-and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Last night I realized that how great I could be scares me more than failure and utter humiliation does.

Day 2109: Defining Your Challenges

Unless you make a conscious decision to define your challenges your challenges will end up defining you– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 11  PM on day 2109 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Ephesians 5: 25, have breakfast, learn one new thing – As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color — like grey, silver, or white — as it grows.-and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Yesterday I decided to do something out-of-the-box I had our housekeeper write down $340 To Raise For Smile Train on a piece of paper after which I asked my brother to stick it on the side of my wheelchair and take a picture of it (to post on social media) and in so doing I sort of took what was supposed to be my biggest stumbling block and turned it into a stepping stone.

Day 2108: Why I am grateful for my wheelchair every day

Be grateful even for the things you sometimes wish you didn’t have to have– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 15  PM on day 2108 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read John 1: 16, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Timeline of Women’s Suffrage Granted, by Country. Learn the year in which women’s suffrage was granted, organized by year. New Zealand was the first country to allow women to vote (in 1893), while the King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia granted women the right to vote in 2011. -and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

This morning as I was listing out loud all the things I was grateful for my mom heard me say wheelchair it surprised her she repeated the word almost as if asking a question and I said something like yes, wheelchair because although I would rather not need one I am grateful to have one because I know there are people who need a wheelchair but don’t have one we must all be grateful even for the things we sometimes wish we didn’t have to have.

Day 2107: Rejection, Life and Me

When rejected maintain a good attitude because NOBODY owes you anything in this life you have to sow 100 days to reap 1 day – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2107 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Romans 15: 33, learn one new thing – On November 21, 1783 the first free flight carrying a human occurred in Paris, France. It was in a hot air balloon made of paper and silk made by the Montgolfier brothers. The balloon carried two men, Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Francois Laurent, Marquis of d’ Arlanders.- have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    – raised $5 910 only $340 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ).

Yesterday I was having a tough day lots of rejection and being ignored what I learned was to maintain a good attitude through it all because NOBODY owes me anything in this life I have to sow 100 days to reap 1 day.
