Day 2155: Happy 16th Birthday Baby Bro

It’s 2 : 23  PM on day 2155 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, go to the doctor  and and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   –  Paul and Juliet Merrell of Big Planet Radio donated $50    (thanks SO MUCH  Paul and Juliet)  which brings the total  raised to $7 175 only  $5 325 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) .

 

Today is my brother’s 16th birthday and in honour of that I wrote down sixteen life lessons for him and everybody else (not that I know much about life). Take a look:

Day 2020: Thanks for the birthday love

The smallest acts of kindness take up the most space in your heart – that’s what I keep realizing.

 

It’s 12 : 07 PM on day 2020 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 1 John 5,  have breakfast, learn one new thing – In captivity, both crows and ravens have been known to live for about thirty years – tops. In the wild, the average life span of a crow is 7-8 years. –   have breakfast and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign – yesterday Samuel Kochukanayathil donated $50,  a person who i think would prefer to remain anonymous donated $25, Ellyn Harris donated $25 and Jim Mahar donated $25  (thanks so much everyone 🙂 ) which brings the total raised to raised $3 757 only $2 493  more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ).

 

Yesterday people from all over the world called and sent messages wishing me a happy birthday I was (and am still) so touched by the love people have for me. Thank you so much to everyone for all the birthday love yesterday I love you guys too.

Day 1966: Happy Birthday Mommy

It’s 12 : 58 PM on day 1966 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Colossians 3, learn one new thing –Dry thunderstorm refers to thunder and lightning that occur without bringing rain to the ground. In fact, the thunder-bearing clouds do produce rain but the rain droplets have evaporated in the air before reaching the ground. – have breakfast  and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign –  yesterday Athira chechi and chachen donated $50 and today Liesel donated $16 ( thank you SO MUCH to chechi and chachen and Liesel your support means A LOT :) )  which brings my total raised to $1 682 only $4 568 more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO  GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ) .

 

Today is my mother’s birthday she and I have our moments like any other mother and child but for the most part I feel like my siblings and I won the mom lottery she has more faith and strength in her one pinkie than most people will ever have. Happy birthday mommy. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for us. Your legacy is the three of us and the countless lives you have impacted in your career as a teacher. I strive every day to be a good reflection of you and dad and to live out the values that you have tried to instil in us.

Day 1790 Happy 15th Birthday Baby Brother

It’s 12 : 16 PM on day 1790  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 22,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,  have breakfast,  learn one new thing –Enervate [en·er·vate] tr.v. 1. To weaken or destroy the strength or vitality. 2. Lacking physical, mental, or moral vigor. “Prolonged exposure to the sun and dehydration enervated the desert racing team.”– and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $3 441 raised so far (thanks all :) )

 

Today is my brother’s 15th birthday (goodness I feel old I still remember visiting my mother in hospital after she gave birth to him) there’s nothing like having a brother sometimes I want to strangle him and other times I want to hug him. Happy birthday Kevin I know I’m like nails on a chalkboard sometimes but please know that mommy, daddy, Neethu and I will never intentionally steer you wrong in life we love you so much and only want the best for you.

Day 1749: 18 For 18 in Honour of Malala’s Upcoming Birthday

It’s 12 : 01  PM on day 1749 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Haggai 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my  Kid of the Week feature,   learn one new thing – Only male humpbacks produce the species’ distinctive song, the most complex in the animal kingdom. Some scientists believe the song is meant to attract females, but others believe it may be an “acoustic display,” serving the same purpose as horns or antlers. – and promote my Educate Generations campaign– Simon Magid and Wayne Mansfield donated $36 and $18 respectively yesterday ​ (thanks so much Simon and Wayne) which brings my total raised to $3  199 :) .

 

As you may or may not know Malala Yousafzai turns 18 on July 12 I’m hoping to get 18 people to donate $18 to my campaign benefiting the Malala Fund in honour of Malala’s upcoming birthday (Simon donated $36 and Wayne donated $18 so we only need 15 more people to donate $18 each to reach the 18 For 18 goal). It’s 12 :  03 PM on day 1654 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray,  read Ezekiel 14, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing – Despite their menacing appearance and fierce name, dragonflies cannot sting and are harmless to human beings –promote my Educate Generations campaign– yesterday  Stan Faryna  donated $24 and this morning  Caryn Gootkin did the same (thanks Caryn and Stan for making this one of my best birthdays ever 🙂 ) which brings my total raised to $2 558   -feed myself egg with bread  for breakfast, chat to family and hang out with our neighbor – our neighbor, Marion, is the sweetest person you’ll ever meet she remembers all our birthdays and brings us gifts this time she brought cupcakes what means more to me than the cupcakes is the fact that she thought of me I aspire to be like Marion she has this way of making everybody in her presence feel like they matter 🙂 .

 

Today is my 24th birthday I am so grateful for all the years that I have been alive to live, love and serve. Thanks to God, my family, friends, medical team and even strangers for standing on the balcony of my life and rooting for me I am deeply humbled by the support and love that I receive on a daily basis.

Day 1602: Happy 49th Birthday Mom

It’s 12 : 09 PM on day 1602 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to  brush my teeth,  pray,  read Jeremiah 19,publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature, learn one new thing –1st Mother’s Day: May 10, 1908; Founded by Anna Jarvis; made a national holiday in 1914 by President Wilson  –   promote my Educate Generations campaign– on $1 730 – feed myself egg with bread for breakfast and continue promoting my campaign my campaign – still on $1 730 and still grateful 🙂

 

Today is my mother’s (mom don’t kill me for revealing your age) 49th birthday which is an important day to me because I owe everything that I am and ever will be to God and my parents. Happy Birthday Mom thanks for the love, laughter and lessons.

Day 1472: Happy 20th Birthday Neethu

It’s 1 : 28 PM on day 1472 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Proverbs 10, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself egg with bread and a banana  for breakfast and work on my upcoming campaign – I’ve been asking people for donations before this campaign even starts so far I’ve been touched but people’s generosity so far only a few people have said no and they weren’t even proper nos those nos were more like we’ll see I have never had as much hope in humanity as I do right now 🙂

 

Today is my sister’s birthday on this day twenty years ago my sister was born and although I don’t remember the day of my sister’s birth I can honestly say my life wouldn’t be the same without her from her I learned to be bold and fearless I wish for her a life filled with meaning and happiness. Happy Birthday Neethu we love you.

Today is my brother’s 14th birthday (happy birthday Kevin) and in honour of that I wrote down 5 life lessons that I’ve learned that I’d like to pass on to him. Take a look:

5 Life Lessons for My Brother On His 14th Birthday

  1. Always say please and thank you because nobody on this planet is here to serve you if they do it’s because they want to not because they have to.
  2. Always be grateful for everything you have because there are people out there who have less than you who still manage to smile.
  3. Listen to your elders because although they don’t know everything they do know more than you because they’ve been alive longer than you.
  4. Never give up because the difference between winners and losers is that losers quit when winners carry on.
  5. Do everything you can and more to help people because when all is said and done people won’t remember how much money you had or how many cars you had but they will remember all the things you did to help others.

It’s 1  : 22 PM on day 1237 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Ezra 4, feed myself eggs with bread for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – my aunt and uncle donated $100 (thank you aunty and uncle)  which brings my total raised to $233.85 I am so happy and grateful :)– publish my Disability of the Day feature,  help our housekeeper make scones – it’s my mom’s birthday today and I really wanted to do something nice for her so I enlisted our housekeeper’s help and we made scones (I read out the recipe and instructed her on what to do and she did it)  hopefully mom will enjoy the scones when she gets back – and chatted to our neighbor – she came by to drop off the pudding she made for mom’s birthday she’s the sweetest woman she remembers all our birthdays and brings us all something people like her make me want to be a better person.

 

Today is my mother’s birthday which is an important day to me because I wouldn’t be who I am without her she has taught me faith, love and strength. Happy Birthday mom thank you for all the lessons you’ve taught me and all the things you do for me I hope I’m the kind person you can be proud of.
