Day 2826: People Are Like Microsoft Windows

People are like Microsoft Windows – that’s what I realized.

It’s 1 : 51 PM on day 2826 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse,, have breakfast,  spend time outside and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Last night I realized people are like Microsoft Windows always going through long updates that at the time irritate but later we are grateful for all the advantages of the update.

“I love Africa, and Ulusaba, our home in South Africa, is pretty special. It’s on a rocky hill overlooking the bush, and from your room, you can see lions stalking zebras by the waterhole. “ -Richard Branson

It’s 1 : 27 PM on day 2825 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, spend time outside – watching a bird take off from the ground is so special -have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Yesterday I watched “What Do You Love About South Africa?” – the first episode of Michael Cost’s 6-part YouTube series ZA Kids (6 episodes, 6 questions, 1 question per episode and a whole lot of fun)– it’s really well done I love that Michael picked a diverse group of people to be a part of this series it makes for interesting viewing. Watch “What Do You Love About South Africa?” below:

Day 2824: Be Persistent

bi2

Be persistent it might annoy people but you might also get what want– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 11 : 49 PM on day 2824 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, spend time outside – it’s such a beautiful morning and I never waste a beautiful morning anymore –  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Yesterday a certain political party called once again to remind me that June 6th was the day of the by-election and although their frequent phone calls over the past weeks bordered on annoying I went to vote because I live in the knowledge that my vote was bought with the blood of many  and I voted for said political party because I loved their persistence it reminded me of my own.

Day 2823: Take the risk and trust

Take the risk and trust – that’s my message to the world

It’s 1:  34 PM on day 2823 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Recently some people broke my heart and they didn’t even know it and after that I thought ok well maybe it’s just easier if I assume everybody will disappoint me but I realize the danger in that is that my closed heart may drive people to do just that so instead of assuming everybody will disappoint me or that nobody will disappoint me I’ve decided to evaluate people on a case by case basis assuming some will, knowingly or otherwise, disappoint me. Take the risk and trust.

Day 2822: World Environment Day 2018 and a HUGE Shoutout to Miss Earth South Africa

“The Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed.” – Mahatma Gandhi

It’s 2 : 19 PM on day 2822 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse,  spend time outside – spending time outside this World Environment Day reinforced my belief that it it our responsibility both as individuals and as a collective to take care of our beautiful Earth (it is a privilege to live on Earth we should never abuse it),  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Today is World Environment Day and the 2018 theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution” let’s reflect on our environmental impact both as individuals and as a collective and decide to tread lightly on the Earth today and every day it’s the only home we have in this life. A huge shoutout to Miss Earth South Africa, Ella Bella and Catherine Constantinides  for whom EVERY DAY is #WorldEnvironmentDay I thank you and I LOVE YOU .

Day 2821: Old Goals and New Ones

Only when we pause and reflect can we measure progress – that’s what I’ve realized

It’s 12 : 58 PM on day 2821 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –  Yesterday B and Gaynor donated $50 (thanks guys) which brings the total raised to $14 669 only $4 081 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Day 2820: Living in People’s Grace

“When you change the way you think, you can change the way you feel.” – David D. Burns

It’s 8 : 59 AM on day 2820 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –  Yesterday a donation of $50 was made which brings the total raised to $14 619 only $4 131 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Recently I’ve changed my perspective from thinking I’m living at other people’s mercy to I’m living in other people’s grace and that shift in thinking has made needing help a lot easier for me. The quality of your life is truly a reflection of the quality of your thoughts.

Day 2819: The Generous Giver and the Gracious Receiver

julie2

Kindness makes my day whether i’m on the giving or receiving end – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12 : 39 PM on day 2819 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $14 569 only $4 181 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Yesterday we received a notice from the Post Office saying there was a package for me (I love getting mail and guessing what it could be and who it could be from [I’m like a big kid]) so this morning my dad picked it up for me and it was books and a movie from my friend Julie in the USA with a sweet card attached (thanks so much Julie) I LOVE giving but today I was reminded that life is a balance of being a generous giver and a gracious receiver.

Day 2818: God and Divine Timing

“If God gives you the vision He will give you provision.” – Iyanla Vanzant

It’s 11 : 33 AM on day 2818 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, spend time outside, read a Bible verse and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised $14 569 only $4 181 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

This morning I was sitting outside racking my brain trying to figure out how I was going to get a local project of mine done and as if on cue when I returned inside I got an email regarding the project the timing was divine… sometimes I see actual proof that God is conspiring for me to succeed (thanks God I know that was you)

Day 2815: Nature’s Greatest Lesson To Me

Nature is one of life’s greatest teachers – that’s what I’ve realized

It’s 1 : 20 PM on day 2815 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – A donation of $100 was made which brings the total raised to $14 569 only $4 181 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

This morning as I sat outside watching a bird peck the grass I was reminded that birds are never early and never late despite the fact that they never check a watch maybe we should all be like birds and immerse ourselves fully in every moment knowing that nothing that is truly meant for us will pass us by.
