Day 2967: Look At Yourself From The Outside

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” – Epicurus

It’s 12 : 50 PM on day 2967 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  read a Bible verse  and do some work

This morning I looked at my whole life from an outsider’s point of view and I saw a girl swinging from treetops, jumping from cliffs, doing her best to be of service all without the abilities most take from granted and just from a second I thought wow and then I was back to myself again but that moment reminded me that I must stop being so self-critical because I genuinely am trying at this life thing.

Day 2966: The Fragility of Life

Life is fragile appreciate the people in your life– that’s my massage to the world.

It’s 11 : 52 AM on day 2966 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

This morning I heard some news which reminded me of the fragility of life we should all hug more and stay on the phone longer with people we love seriously the items on our to-do lists will always be there the people we love may not be.

Day 2965: One of Life’s Weeds

Be like a weed between the pavement beautiful because it’s not supposed to grow there – that’s my massage to the world.

It’s 12 : 52 PM on day 2965 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

This morning while outside I couldn’t help noticing the weeds between our pavement and I thought how beautiful they were because they weren’t supposed to grow there I feel like one of life’s weeds because by all accounts I wasn’t meant to be anything that I have become and yet somehow by God’s grace and determination something has been made (and is in the making) from this life of mine I feel truly blessed.

Day 2964: Catherine Constantinides Discusses Western Sahara on Let’s Have It Out #LHIO

lhio 2

Catherine Constantinides to Acting Charge d’ Affaires, Abdelkader Naji of the Moroccan Embassy to South Africa  [regarding Morocco’s 42-year illegal occupation of Western Sahara]: “How can you offer local autonomy to a country you don’t believe exists? ”

It’s 2 : 15 PM on day 2964 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work.

Last night My Superhero Catherine Constantinides guest anchored Let’s Have It Out discussing the Western Sahara Conflict with Acting Charge d’ Affaires, Abdelkader Naji of the Moroccan Embassy to South Africa I was impressed by Catherine’s restraint the Charge d’ Affaires’s only aim was to attack her and her only aim was for the truth to be known God bless her he tried to talk over and attack her meanwhile she was sticking to the facts and trying to make the world aware of Morocco’s 42-year illegal occupation of the Western Sahara – I picked my Superhero really well *impressed with self* .    Please do watch the episode below and share:

Day 2962: 8th Alive Day #AliveDay

courage d

Fill every day with goodness, kindness and mercy – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1 : 15 PM on day 2962 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

Today I celebrate my 8th #AliveDay – 8 months since my surgery – I remember the pain and if I should ever forget the large scars on my arm remain to remind me but I’m not defined by pain I’m defined by purpose. Around Alive Day I do something good for others thus turning an otherwise merely painful event into something beautiful. Please do a good deed today, take a pic related to the deed, tag me (@Nisha360) in the tweet and use #AliveDay8. Help me celebrate life.

Day 2961: Garden Day

“A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.” – Gertrude Jekyll

It’s 4 : 23 PM on day 2961 of my journey towards independence and I managed to go to church,  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

Today is Garden Day here in South Africa I appreciate being outside more than most do perhaps because it’s so much effort for me to actually go outside. I have to make sure somebody’s available to push me out and back in, make sure my shoes are on and make sure the weather is just right.

Day 2960: My Fight To Change Perceptions Continues

The world needs to move from self-centeredness to altruism  – that’s my message to the world

It’s 11 : 38 AM on day 2960 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, , read a Bible verse  and do some work

Recently I wondered what would happen if I stopped caring about how differently-abled people are perceived and I realized that I can’t stop caring because although I have opportunities to thrive in this life the opportunities that future generations of differently-abled people are presented with will depend on whether they are presumed competent or not and so for them my fight to change perceptions continues

Day 2959: #1120Under5 and KFC’s Add Hope Campaign

add hope

In all that you do there are opportunities to add hope– that’s my message to the world

It’s 11 : 47 AM on day 2959 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

Today I found out about the launch of #1120Under5 – 1120 children under 5 die of malnutrition in South Africa annually so KFC South Africa has enlisted the help of South African celebrities to help drop that stat by raising awareness about child malnutrition and urging people to donate to KFC’s Add Hope Campaign. I’ve been a long-time supporter of the Add Hope in fact, I’d say sometimes I choose to eat at KFC because I want to add R5 to every meal which will go towards feeding children. South Africa, let’s join the #1120Under5 Movement donate to KFC’s Add Hope Campaign .

Day 2958: Replace Envy with Gratitude

Replace envy with gratitude and your whole life will change– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 45 PM on day 2958 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

Yesterday I decided that every time I felt envy I would replace envy with gratitude because I know that although  there’s a lot I yearn for I am aware of the fact that what I have is what some people pray for.
