Disability can be an opportunity if you make the decision to be a pioneer – that’s what I know.
It’s 11 : 54 AM on day 2409 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast, read James 5: 16 and learn a new word – Ostensible [os·ten·si·ble] adj. Stated or appearing to be true, but not necessarily so. Being such in appearance, plausible rather than demonstrably true or real. “The ostensible purpose of the trip was for business.” .
Yesterday I watched “Why I work to remove access barriers for students with disabilities” – a Ted Talk by Haben Girma, the first deafblind graduate from Harvard Law School – I love that she emphasized that we all have a role to play in creating a more accessible and inclusive world.
