To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy… is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.” – Ralph Waldo Trine
It’s 4: 24 PM on day 62 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself sweet potatoes and yoghurt for breakfast, transferred myself from the wheelchair to the bed – at first I tried to do it totally by myself and when I realized that I couldn’t do it by myself just yet my tears flowed in spite of my best efforts to stop them 🙁 and after I was done crying I held my mother’s hand and got myself on the bed – read The Last True Cowboy by Kathleen Eagle – I’m not done read but I can already tell that it’s a good book for anybody who likes to read romance novels – feed myself Chapati – an unleavened flatbread (also known as roti) from the Indian subcontinent – and chicken curry for lunch and drink juice from a glass –it’s a really small thing that most people take for granted but it took me every bit of concentration I had just to keep from dropping the glass.
Today most of the town had to do without electricity for about 9 hours and I was absolutely okay with it because I knew that trying to control things I couldn’t control would only lead to premature aging. Do the things you can’t control, control you? 🙂
