Day 1380: There for me or just there?

Some people are there for you through thick and thin while others are just there for you when it’s convenient for them – that’s what I’ve realized as I’ve grown.

It’s 12  : 15 PM on day 1380 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Psalm 67,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes for breakfast,   promote Eradicate AIDS campaign – still at 88% – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and hang out with my sister.

This morning I was thinking about people and how hard it is to know who’s there for you and who’s not when I was younger I thought everybody who loved me would be there for me no matter what but as I’ve grown I’ve realized that some people are there for you through thick and thin while others are just there for you when it’s convenient for them. Have you, with age, learned to differentiate between those who are there for you and those who are just there?

Day 1379: There are some things you try that just don’t work out

There are some things you try that just don’t work out and that’s okay – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12  : 05 PM on day 1379 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  a banana  for breakfast promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still at 88% – pray,  read Psalm 66, and hang out with my sister (she’s back from university for winter break).

As you may know, a few days ago I enrolled to do a course on Coursera , sadly I have had to un-enrol from that course because I discovered that some of the assignments I would have to do as part of the course would require me to go out and do things which is almost impossible for me because I can’t drive myself anywhere (I know you’re probably thinking why don’t you just lie and make up stuff to put in the essay I didn’t want to lie and make up stuff to put in the essay because I truly believe when you cheat you only cheat yourself).

Day 1377: How to Change the World with Wesleyan University

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”― H. Jackson Brown Jr.P.S. I Love You

It’s 12  : 00 PM on day 1377 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 64,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so so far today but my friend, Debbie, donated $36 yesterday (thank you so much Debbie) which brings my total raised to $875.54 only $124.60 more to raise I’m SO grateful and happy 🙂

A few days ago I signed up for a course called How to Change the World I figured what the heck it’s free and if all goes well at the end of six weeks I will have a certificate from Wesleyan University, if not, I will have had a fantastic experience.

(Update I have had to un-enrol from this course because I discovered that some of the assignments I would have to do as part of the course would require me to go out and do things which is almost impossible for me because I can’t drive myself anywhere)

Day 1376: Do you have a backup plan?

Things don’t always work out as planned so it’s good to have a backup plan – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 1  : 04 PM on day 1376 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 63,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  egg and bread for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 83% things could be better but things could also be worse I’m choosing to look on the bright side at least i’m on 83% and not on 0% now that would be a disaster LOL –  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

This morning I found out that something I thought was going to happen wasn’t going to happen I was bummed but it wasn’t a trainsmash because I had a backup plan. Do you always have a backup plan or do you put all your eggs in one basket and fall apart when things don’t work out as planned?

Day 1373: The Color of Rain

Truth is stranger than fiction – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12  : 52 PM on day 1373 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast, read Psalm 60,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on $839.54 –  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

Yesterday I watched The Color of Rain – a movie based on a non-fiction book about two people coming together and creating a family after losing their spouses to cancer – and loved it because it is a reminder to all of us that we can come through even the most tragic situations stronger and happier than we were before. Watch The Color of Rain below:

Day 1370: Do you give people the power to make you feel bad about yourself?

Nobody can make you feel bad about yourself unless you let them – that’s what I realized this morning.

It’s 1  : 29 PM on day 1370 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast, read Psalm 57,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, go visit family   and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 83%

This morning something happened that made me realize nobody can make you feel bad about yourself unless you let them. Do you give people the power to make you feel bad about yourself?

Day 1369: The Whittington Family: Ryland’s Story

Unconditional love is loving someone for who they really are – that’s what the Whittington family taught me.

It’s 1  : 01 PM on day 1369 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 56,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself bread with egg  for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on $839.54 – and practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles.

Yesterday I came across the Whittington family’s story in 2007 the Whittington’s welcomed a baby girl into the world only as soon as their baby girl could talk she told them that she was a he so after many years and much research they decided to let their baby girl become a boy in every way possible I was blown away by the unconditional love that these parents had for their child. Day 1368: Believe in Yourself

Believe in yourself– that’s what my message to the world.

It’s 12  : 52 PM on day 1368 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 55,  publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  oats  for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – @NewScience101 made another donation (THANK YOU God and THANK YOU to my friends @NewScience101 )  which brings my total raised to $839.54 I am SO HAPPY and to think I had almost lost all hope of reaching my goal just goes to show you should never give up because you never know how close you are to getting what you want –  practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings

Recently my mom and I somehow got on the topic of self-belief and I remember saying something like if you don’t believe in yourself why would anybody else believe in you it was just one of those things I said without thinking but it’s true you’ve known yourself your whole life if you don’t believe in yourself why should anybody believe in you people tell me I can’t do things but I do it anyway because I believe in myself more than I believe what they’re saying about me. Do you believe in yourself or do you believe what other people say about you?

Day 1367: Sister Cristina on The Voice Italy

No matter who you are you can be anything you want to be– that’s what my message to the world.

It’s 12  : 46 PM on day 1367 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Psalm 54, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself  bran flakes  for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on $819.54 this is so frustrating I’m telling people about the campaign and why I started it but nobody seems to want to help I don’t know what else to do (God help me open people’s eyes to the scourge of AIDS and move them to do something. Please and thank you in advance).

Today I watched Sister Cristina’s blind audition on The Voice Italy again and it reminded me that no matter who you are you can be anything you want to be. Watch “The Voice IT | Serie 2 | Blind 2 | Suor Cristina Scuccia” below:

Day 1366:Don’t back down on things that matter

Don’t back down on things that matter – that’s what I learned today.

It’s 12  : 22 PM on day 1366 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, go back to sleep,  stretch my hamstrings, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, feed myself  oats  for breakfast, read Psalm 53,  publish my Disability of the Day feature and promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – still on 81% (God help me).

Today something happened that taught me that I shouldn’t back down on things that matter oftentimes I notice things that concern me and I tell people that have the power to do something about it but they tell me I’m overreacting so I drop the issue and it always ends up hurting the people I love the next time I’m concerned about something I won’t drop it until somebody takes me seriously. Do you back down on things that matter because you feel like it’s not your place to get involved?
