Day 1778: The Love of Parents

“Our parents deserve our honor and respect for giving us life itself. Beyond this they almost always made countless sacrifices as they cared for and nurtured us through our infancy and childhood, provided us with the necessities of life, and nursed us through physical illnesses and the emotional stresses of growing up.” – Ezra Taft Benson

Thanks mommy and daddy for being there for me through thick, thin and everything in-between I sincerely appreciate it more than you will ever know.

My fears

  1. Speaking in front of a large crowd (I have major stage fright I’m so scared of getting in front of people and going totally blank)
  2. Radio interviews (I know that doing radio interviews would be beneficial for my philanthropic projects but I’m afraid people  won’t understand what I’m trying to say (because I have Cerebral Palsy my speech is not as clear as it could be and  sometimes there’s like small breaks in my speech))
  3. Tv interviews

This morning it occurred to me that most people who read this blog only get to see  one side of me, the side that loves to help people, which is fine but there are so many other things I love to do besides that and to show you that below I’ve written down some of my hobbies. Take a look:

My Hobbies

  • Writing (Writing is cathartic for me I write whatever I’m feeling which helps especially since I don’t feel comfortable burdening people with my problems)
  • Reading (Reading transports me to a different world for a while. I love reading books by Jodi Picoult, Malcolm Gladwell, Mitch Albom and Khaled Hosseini )
  • Listening to music ( “Energy” by Keri Hilson is my new favourite song)
  • Watching movies (I’m the kind of girl who cries at the end of The Notebook no matter how many times she’s seen it it’s actually quite embarrassing)
  • Watching Strictly Come Dancing (Strictly Come Dancing is the only TV show I watch I love seeing South African celebrities totally out of their element trying to learn a new skill there’s something very inspiring about that)
  • Watching cooking videos on YouTube (I love watching Jamie Oliver cook he does so with so much love and passion he inspires me to do everything I do with passion)

Day 1771: Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech 2005

“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.” – Steve Jobs

This morning I was thinking about religion and public platforms although I am a proud Christian in the past I’ve been on the fence about whether or not to express my faith on public platforms purely because I didn’t want to push my faith on people who might not share my beliefs but now I realize it’s my right and responsibility as a Christian to share my beliefs just like it’s other people’s right not to believe my beliefs if they don’t.
