Day 1798: What is failure?

Failure is an event not a person so you can never be a failure – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 48 PM on day 1798  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Mark 3,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,    learn one new thing – Monolithic [mon·o·lith·ic] adj. 1. Massive, solid, and uniform: “The monolithic cathedral.” 2. Large and unchanging: massive, uniform in character, and slow to change. – have breakfast, read Yellow Zebras! Hello, over here! Hello!  – a great blog post by Tim Fargo about how it pays to be different in business –    and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $4 541 raised so far (thanks everyone   :) ).

This morning remembering the article I read yesterday titled Catherine Constantinides Shares Her Wisdom it occurred to me that most people, unlike Catherine, are afraid to fail so they don’t even try but really failure is nothing to be ashamed of everybody who has ever succeeded has failed at least once failure is that which we learn from to do better next time.

Day 1798: Being the one who who falls first

“You know it’s never fifty-fifty in a marriage. It’s always seventy-thirty, or sixty-forty. Someone falls in love first. Someone puts someone else up on a pedestal. Someone works very hard to keep things rolling smoothly; someone else sails along for the ride.”― Jodi Picoult, Mercy

It’s  1:  15   PM on day 1798 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Mark 2, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature,   have breakfast,  learn one new thing –Lions have terrific night vision. They are 6 times more sensitive to light than humans. This gives them a distinct advantage over some prey species when hunting at night. – and promote my Educate Generations campaign – $4 541 raised so far (thanks so much for your support everyone 🙂 ).

Recently I’ve realized that in all my relationships I’m always the one going the extra mile I’ve tried to hold back just to see if people would come a little more than halfway to meet me but that’s not me I’m an all or nothing kind of girl and I’m fine with the fact that I’ll always be the one giving more in all my relationships because I truly do love all the people in my life.

Day 1797: Us and How We See the World

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”― Anaïs Nin

It’s 11 : 00 AM on day 1797  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Mark 1,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,    learn one new thing –Axiom [ax·i·om] n. 1. A self-evident principle or one that is accepted as true without proof as the basis for argument.– have breakfast     and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $4 541 raised so far (so grateful a HUGE  thanks to everyone who has helped out so far   :) ).

Today I was thinking about a quote I read a while ago which reads something like we see the world not as it is but rather as we are it’s so true I see the world as mostly good because I am (or at least try to be) mostly good some call me naive for the way I see the world but I think they only do so because they are hurt (if you’ve been hurt and/or betrayed it stands to reason that you would see the world as a hurtful place).

Day 1796: “Tourette’s syndrome — why it doesn’t define me” – a Ted Talk by Jess Thom

The most extraordinary people in this life turn their pain into purpose – that’s what I realized keep realizing.

It’s 1 :  00 PM on day 1796  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 28,    publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –  Average life span[of a parrot] in the wild: Up to 80 years- have breakfast, make sandwiches for Cynthia’s ( our housekeeper’s) neighborhood with mom’s help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run – (thank you sisi Cynthia  for all your help) –    and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $4 541 raised so far (so grateful a HUGE  thanks to everyone who has helped out so far   :) ).

.

Recently I watched “Tourette’s syndrome — why it doesn’t define me” – a Ted Talk by Jess Thom about Tourette’s syndrome and how she’s turning Tourette’s syndrome tics into superpowers through TourettesHero – I could relate to the decision Jess made to flip a potentially life-defining condition and make it work for her because I made the same decision. Watch “Tourette’s syndrome — why it doesn’t define me” below:

Day 1795: How to get people to listen to you

If you don’t talk to people about things that don’t matter they aren’t likely to listen to you when you talk about things that do matter– that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 : 40 PM on day 1795  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 27,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,    learn one new thing –Impugn [im·pugn] tr.v. To attack as false or questionable; challenge in argument: “To impugn a political opponent’s record.”– have breakfast and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – Tim Fargo, author of Alphabet Success – Keeping it Simple. My Secrets to Success and founder of TweetJukebox , donated $1 000 (yes, you read right) yesterday (thank you SO MUCH Tim you’re AWESOME you should have seen me yesterday I was in utter disbelief that someone could be so generous thanks again Tim your support really does mean the absolute world to me  :) ) which brings my total raised to $4 541 with 51 days still to go till the end of the campaign (SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has helped out so far 🙂  ).

Yesterday I realized that both offline and online if you don’t talk to people about things that don’t matter they aren’t likely to listen to you when you talk about things that do matter so if you want people to listen to you create an open channel of communication.

Day 1794: Winning the battle of life

95% of the battle of life is won in the mind – that’s what I want the world to know.

It’s 12 : 17 PM on day 1794  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 26,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,    learn one new thing –A group of owls is called a parliament.– have breakfast and  promote my Educate Generations campaign –Barak Kassar, founding partner of Rassak, donated $100 yesterday (thanks SO MUCH Barak  people like you make me want to be a better person we’ve never met in person and yet you chose to help me help others you will never know how much you have touched my life :) ) which brings my total raised to $3 541 (so grateful to everyone who has helped out so far).

This morning I was thinking about how 95% of the battle of life is won in the mind I’ve been around people who are miserable despite having everything they need to thrive which is probably why some people are surprised to find me as happy as a clam when they first meet me it’s not that I’m oblivious to the fact that I can’t walk it’s just that I choose to count my blessings and think that God is conspiring for me to succeed.

Day 1793: Patience and Me

)When struggling to be patient remind yourself that you’re not the centre of the universe – that’s my message to every impatient person out there.

It’s 12 : 46 PM on day 1793  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray, read Matthew 25,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,    learn one new thing –To defend their territories and attract a mate, bald eagles put on spectacular aerial displays including death-defying swoops and seemingly suicidal dogfights that involve locking talons with another bird and free-falling in a spiral. – have breakfast and  promote my Educate Generations campaign – $3 441 raised so far (so grateful thanks everyone 🙂 ) .

This morning I was thinking about patience and me patience is not exactly one of my strong suits (I hate waiting for things to happen) but recently when I was frustrated waiting for something to happen I reminded myself that I wasn’t the centre of the universe and just accepted that I had to wait shockingly I didn’t feel so impatient anymore I think from now onwards whenever I feel impatient I’ll do the same thing.

Day 1792: “Raging Fire” by Philip Philips

You know time will give and time will take

All the memories made will wash away

Even though we’ve changed, I’m still here with you

If you listen close, you’ll hear the sound

Of all the ghosts that bring us down

Hold on to what makes you feel

Don’t let go, it’s what makes you real

Yesterday I got into a bit of hot water with one of my loved ones because the day before  I shared A Woman Who Was Paralyzed At Her Bachelorette Party Is Trying To Change The Way People See Those With Disabilities on my personal Facebook account I knew some people wouldn’t be pleased with me sharing the article but even after my conversation with said loved one who was concerned what others would think  I didn’t regret sharing the article because one of my missions in life is to help change the world’s perception of differently-abled people and I will do everything in my power to make that happen anybody who has a problem with that is more than welcome to unfriend me, unfollow me or exit my life.
