“The present moment is all you ever have.” – Eckhart Tolle
Yesterday after many years of procrastination I finally published my children’s book entitled Different Is COOL which is about self-acceptance and service to others and I hope after reading it everybody will ask themselves what can I do to make a difference in my community and in the world at large.

Today marks the two month anniversary of my campaign benefitting Breath of Life(a place of safety for babies here in East London, South Africa) in memory of Gerda Bence. . “There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.”― Nelson Mandela
On August 19, 2019, my physiotherapist of 16 years, Gerda Bence, tragically died in a car accident at the age of 51 and so to celebrate 51 years of her beautiful life and to mark the first anniversary of her death I’m aiming to raise R51 000 for the Restore Trust’s Breath of Life house.
What is Breath of Life and what makes it unique? Breath of Life, an initiative of the Restore Trust, is a place of safety for vulnerable babies in East London, South Africa. The place of safety has the capacity to take care of up to 6 babies simultaneously.
What’s unique about Breath of Life is that the babies live with House Mom, Michelle, House Dad, Andrew and House Siblings, Jazmyn, Lily-Anne and Alex-Rose (along with carers who are there to help the family take care of the babies) ensuring the babies have stability and love until they are adopted or reunited with suitable blood relatives.
Why am I raising money for Breath of Life? I am raising money for Breath of Life because I believe every baby deserves to start life on a level playing field and Breath of Life provides that by ensuring every baby is loved and cared for until the Department of Social Development can find them a permanent home.
Make a donation to my campaign and in so doing help Breath of Life continue to positively impact the lives of women in crisis and babies still waiting for their forever families. https://www.backabuddy.co.za/in-loving-memory-of-gerda
“South Africa’s sanitation problem is not a government problem or a DomestosSA problem, it is an everyone problem.” – Anele Mdoda
It’s 12: 08 PM on day 2990 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, spend time outside – it’s such a beautiful morning so grateful to be alive to see it – read a Bible verse and do some work
Yesterday was World Toilet Day and in effort to eliminate pit toilets in schools South African Media Mogul Anele Mdoda launched a crowdfunding campaign to build safe toilets in schools I don’t usually actively support crowdfunding campaigns that aren’t mine but a part of me died when I heard that school kids in my beloved South Africa die falling into pit toilets – that is SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE no child should die from going to the bathroom. IT IS AN INSULT TO OUR COUNTRY and our national dignity. Please support Anele’s crowdfunding campaign if you can (I did – in honour of my Superheroes Catherine and Ella Constantinides who teach me every day the true power of being kinder than required) https://www.thundafund.com/project/anelemdodawtd18/
Chapters end to make way for new ones – that’s what I’ve realized.
It’s 8 : 21 AM on day 2834 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –raised $15 219
Today marks the twelfth month anniversary of my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet which means my campaign ends today. 124 people made donations to this campaign and between us we’ve donated $15 219 – enough to provide clubfoot treatments for 60 kids I am SO THANKFUL AND BLOWN AWAY by the support from groups and individuals as well.
Highlights of this campaign
Seenachechi asked everybody attending her daughter’s baptism to donate to my campaign instead of bringing gifts (thank you Seenachechi you inspire me to be more generous in my own life – one day I’m going to come to Australia to give you a hug [seriously I don’t know many people who would go to so much effort for someone they’ve never met in person])
My cousin asked ALL HER FRIENDS to donate to my campaign instead of bringing gifts to my niece Maya’s first birthday party – that party for a one-year-old changed lives (thank you Tinuchechi you are still always there to help me even from an ocean away I will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS hold that in my heart).
The St. Thomas Orthodox Congregation of Southern Africa, the church that I belong to, asked the congregation to bring their firstfruits to church and the vegetables were auctioned to raise $500 for my campaign (thank you to Fr. James, his wonderful wife Bernice for organizing this and to the whole congregation for their incredible support. You guys awe AWESOME)
OmniMed Pty (Ltd) donated $3 344 (I had emailed a friend telling her I still had $3 344 to raise to reach my goal and asked for fundraising suggestions instead I got a reply back saying she had spoken to her father and that they would be donating the entire remaining amount [I nearly fall off my wheelchair – it reminded me of the human capacity for generosity])

Last night I surpassed my 50 New Feet Campaign goal (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂 ) since there’s so much time left before the end of the campaign on June 17th 2018 I have decided to to try and raise enough money to help MiracleFeet treat 25 more kids with Clubfoot (which would add up to a total of 75 kids treated ) so by June 17th 2018 I’m hoping to raise $18 750.
