Day 1734: To quit or to carry on?

Even when you feel like quitting carry on – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1 : 33  PM on day 1734 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Micah 2, publish my Disability of the Day feature,   learn one new thing –Koalas have an oddly small brain, with nearly half of the cranial cavity filled with fluid. “There’s no creature on Earth with a brain so aberrant,” one scientist said. If the shriveled brain were not well cushioned by membranous tissue, it would rattle around like a seed in a pod. – feed myself egg with bread for breakfast, go shopping and go visit family.

Yesterday I had a really rough day I just wanted to curl up into a ball and lie on my bed forever but I woke up today ready to start again I think carrying on when you feel like quitting is the most important key to success.

Day 1733: What Cynthia Reminded Me About Love

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”― Mother Teresa

It’s 12 : 15  PM on day 1733 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Micah 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature,     learn one new thing –Among the most accomplished and well known of the world’s deep-sea explorers, Robert Ballard is best known for his historic discoveries of hydrothermal vents, the sunken R.M.S. Titanic, the German battleship Bismarck, and numerous other contemporary and ancient shipwrecks around the world.–feed myself peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast, make sandwiches for Cynthia’s ( our housekeeper’s) neighborhood with Cynthia’s help as part of  Virginia’s Sandwich Run – (thank you sisi Cynthia for all your help) –   and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 045 raised so far.

Yesterday seeing how much love our housekeeper, Cynthia, put into cleaning our windows and how much pride she took in her work I was reminded that the love with which you do things makes all the difference.

Day 1732: Praying through the questions

Sometimes you just have to pray through the questions – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 05  PM on day 1732 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Jonah 4, publish my Disability of the Day feature,     learn one new thing –In the 16th and 17th centuries, Europeans believed that somewhere in the New World was a city of gold, waiting to be discovered. Despite several expeditions to South America, including two by Sir Walter Raleigh, the legendary city of El Dorado was never found.–feed myself peanut butter and banana sandwich for breakfast  and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 045 raised so far so grateful.

Today I was wondering why God would let someone like Jenna Lowe, who was doing so much good in the world, suffer and die while murders and rapists roam the earth free to do evil I guess some questions I’ll never get answers to so I’ll just pray through the questions.

Day 1730: Why I intend on depressing the world for the rest of my life

Most people are waking around in an unconscious state of mind– that’s how I feel.

It’s 12 : 26  PM on day 1730 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Jonah 2, publish my Disability of the Day feature,     learn one new thing –While Machu Picchu’s remarkable stonework was largely intact, it was covered with hundreds of years of tangled brush, lichen, and creepers. Bingham and a team of workers spent three years clearing and mapping the site.–feed myself egg with bread for breakfast  and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 045 raised so far so grateful (thanks guys :)).

Recently social media was abuzz with the news that Bruce Jenner had finally chosen to live as her true self, Caitlyn Jenner, and as much as I was happy for her I was so angry that so much attention was on one person’s personal life while millions of others were starving, thirsty and displaced I know it’s depressing talking about the starving, thirsty and displaced but behind the words starving, thirsty and displaced are millions of human beings who need our help so yeah I’ll continue depressing the world for the rest of my life speaking for the voiceless hopefully a few more people will read my words and be moved to act.

Day 1729: “Burn” by Ellie Goulding

When the light started out they don’t know what they heard
Strike the match, play it loud, giving love to the world
We’ll be raising our hands, shining up to the sky
‘Cause we got the fire, fire, fire
Yeah we got the fire, fire, fire

And we gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
Gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn
We gonna let it burn, burn, burn, burn

Ellie Goulding, “Burn”

It’s 12 : 11  PM on day 1729 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Jonah 1, publish my Disability of the Day feature,     learn one new thing –On July 14, 1789, Parisians and militiamen stormed the Bastille prison—also a fortress—looking for powder for the 30,000 muskets and five cannons they took from the Invalides earlier that day. They emerged with the governor of the Bastille, whose head they cut off with a pocketknife and impaled on a pike.–feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,  and promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 045 raised so far :)

A while ago I heard “Burn” by Ellie Goulding I loved the song because I could relate to the lyrics I too try to live on fire.  Listen to “Burn” by Ellie Goulding below:

Day 1728: Scalevo – The Stairclimbing Wheelchair

Full of contempt and arrogance. 2. Behaving as if or showing that a person thinks they are better than other people, and that their opinions, beliefs or ideas are not important, condescending. “He spoke in a haughty, supercilious voice.”–  and promote my Educate Generations campaign– Madalyn Sklar, creator and host of the #‎TwitterSmarter podcast, donated $20 yesterday  (thank you so much  Madalyn you’re awesome I will be listening to your podcast can’t wait for the great shows you have coming up  🙂 ) which brings the total raised to $3 045 so grateful to everyone that has helped out (thanks guys).

Yesterday I saw an ad for the Scalevo Wheelchair – a wheelchair that can climb stairs – needless to say I was over-the-moon excited I try not to let Cerebral Palsy rule my life but whenever we decide to go somewhere my first thought and question is will there be stairs there maybe the Scalevo Wheelchair will be the beginning of the end of my worries.  Watch the ad for the Scalevo Wheelchair below:

Day 1727: Why I Believe Everything Happens by Design

Everything happens by design – that’s what I keep realizing.

Years of drought in the last decade have been the most devastating in the country’s 117 years of recorded history. feed myself a peanut butter and banana sandwich  for breakfast,   promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 025 raised so far so grateful :)

Recently I found myself wishing I could do more by myself just so I wouldn’t have to inconvenience my parents so much but then I realized that God gave me more heart than ability by design my parents are all about saving for a rainy day but because I need help with some things they’ve sort of gotten roped into giving it’s an ingenious plan actually God gave me more heart than ability so that I could get more people involved in being the change they want to see in the world.

Day 1725: My beliefs, Values and Notes to my Future Self

You can’t live your beliefs and values if you don’t know what they are – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 :  00 PM on day 1725 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Amos 7, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing  –Colombia, located at the northwestern tip of South America, is part of the Ring of Fire. The 25,000-mile horseshoe arc around the Pacific is the most active volcano area in the world. It’s home to some 450 volcanoes—over 75 percent of all volcanoes on Earth. feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,   promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 025 raised so far so grateful 🙂 – and  watch Oprah’s MasterClasses featuring successful people –  (I always look to learn from other people’s lives so I don’t make the same mistakes that they made and so that I can copy the things they did to become successful)  .

Yesterday after watching a short clip of Morgan Freeman talking about the importance of holding on to one’s principals I wrote down my beliefs, values and notes to my future self knowing I wouldn’t be able to live my beliefs and values unless I really knew what they were. Take a look:

My beliefs, Values and Notes to my Future Self

My beliefs

  1. I believe in God (there has to be a higher power how else can I explain my life God has taken someone who some people see as broken and is using her (me) to make a difference).
  2. I believe I am an extremely flawed human being who is trying her best to be a good person and because of that I believe I deserve the best from other people and from life.

My values (or at least the values I hold dear and aspire to)

  1. Honesty
  2. Kindness
  3. Compassion
  4. Generosity
  5. Humility
  6. Loyalty
  7. Fairness
  8. Equality

Notes to my future self

  1. Have faith (Hold on to God in good times, bad times and all the times in between knowing that every experience you go through is designed to help you become who you were meant to be).
  2. Take care of yourself (eat well, exercise and go to the doctor (when necessary)).
  3. To thyself be true (there will only be one you in the history of humanity don’t waste who you are trying to be a copy of someone else).
  4. If someone tries to get you to do things that are against your values GET AWAY from them and do it FAST (sometimes you go along just to get along and some people can spot that and try to use that to get you to do what they want you to do and once you compromise on your values once they’ll expect you to do it again and again).
  5. Be grateful (if ten years from now you whine about how crappy your life is I’ll come back from the past and kick your butt because no matter how bad things may be there’s ALWAYS something to be grateful for).
  6. Let your guard down (I know that it’s hard for you to let people in because of the way you think people perceive you but you can’t go through your whole life without friendships full of love and trust who knows what might happen if you allow yourself to be venerable with people it may result in lifelong friendships or not either way you will have had the courage to risk your heart).
  7. Express your feelings more (what’s the use of feeling things for people if you keep those feelings to yourself).
  8. Forgive yourself and others quickly (you expect yourself to be an exemplary human being and sometimes you fail miserably it’s ok forgive yourself then extend that forgiveness to other people when they fail to meet your expectations).
  9. Have fun (this is something that I’m having a really hard time doing right now hopefully you’ll have a better time of it).
