Day 2211: The Beauty in Challenge

There’s beauty in imperfection and challenge – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 9 : 58  AM on day 2211 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 17: 17 , have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Yesterday it occurred to me that my life is beautiful precisely because it’s so imperfect and challenging I notice and appreciate things that most people may not.

Day 2210: Own Your Faith

It’s okay to own your faith – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 11 : 07  AM on day 2210 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  pray, read 2 John 1:6, have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Recently I’ve started posting Bible verses on my social media platforms I never used to do that for fear of imposing my faith on others but now I realize I’m not forcing anything on anyone I’m just doing my duty as a Christian by sharing with the world what Christianity teaches me.

Day 2209: Focus on What You Can Control

Focus on the things you can control and let go of the things you can’t – that’s what I keep learning.

It’s 10 : 14  AM on day 2209 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read Luke 6:35 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I was reminded that I should focus on the things I can can control and let go of the things I can’t because really stressing about things outside of our circle of influence is pointless.

Day 2208: Family and the End of the School Term

“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” – Michael J. Fox

It’s 10 : 18  AM on day 2208 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read 1 John 4:18-19, and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today is the end of the third school term here in South Africa and since my parents are both teachers and my brother’s still in high school end of term means that the house is going to be full and noisy but I wouldn’t have it any other way I love my family.

Day 2207: Disability in Rural Areas in South Africa

The things I don’t think twice about are things other people pray for – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 10 : 48  AM on day 2207 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 12:25, have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I read The triple vulnerability of being poor and disabled in rural South Africa which made me conscious of my own privilege I’m fortunate that whenever I need to go to a doctor my parents can pay for the appointment and drive me there which sadly is not the case for most people with disabilities living in rural areas in South Africa they have to worry about distance and transportation I do hope that the solutions mentioned in the article will be implemented because truly South Africa cannot prosper if a segment of the population feels like the general population doesn’t care about them.

Day 2205: Doing My Best Every Day

Just decide you’re going to do your best for as long as you need to regardless of the result– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 9 : 47  AM on day 2205 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Esther 4:14 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I just decided that I was going to do my best for as long as I needed to regardless of the result (I may or may not get my desired result but no matter what I’m going to work hard every single day).

Day 2204: Getting What You Wished For

Sometimes you get what you wished for and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 8 : 52  AM on day 2204 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Peter 3:9 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Yesterday I sort of got what I wished for and I found myself wishing I didn’t make that wish sometimes getting what you wished for isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Day 2203: Giving Time

Your time is the best gift you can give people – that’s what I keep being reminded of.

It’s 10 : 25  AM on day 2203 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, have breakfast and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I was reminded that time is the best gift you can give people because when you give people your time you give them a chunk of your life you’ll never get back.

Day 2199: International Day of Peace

We must be peaceful within so we can offer peace to those without – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 04  PM on day 2199 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read James 4:7 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today is the International Day of Peace and in honour of that I ask that all of us find our inner-peace so we can offer peace to those without.

Day 2197: Risks and Life

The biggest risk of all is not taking any – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 9 : 11  AM on day 2197 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read Ezekiel 18: 32   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today I realized that if I live instead of merely existing my life will be risky and I’ve made my peace with that because I know that the biggest risk of all is not taking any.
