Day 2866: “Kids Meet A Little Person”

All of us can do most things some of us just have to do them differently – that’s my message to the world

It’s 12 : 15 PM on day 2866 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, do some work and spend time outside – it’s such a beautiful day outside i’m so grateful to be alive to see it

A while ago I watched “Kids Meet A Little Person” I love both the adult and children in this video but most of all I love that the Kids Meet series is teaching people, in an entertaining way, that different is cool and that there’s beauty in diversity. Watch “Kids Meet A Little Person” below:

Day 2865: Mandela Day 2018 #Mandela100 #BeTheLegacy

“As long as poverty, injustice and gross inequality persist in our world, none of us can truly rest.” -Nelson Mandela

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 2865 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and do some work

Today being Mandela Day – a day during which people all over the world spend 67 minutes of their time in service of others in honour of the late Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service – and what would have been Mr. Mandela’s 100th birthday I once again urge everybody to fellow in his footsteps and serve the world every day not just on July 18th. Happy Birthday Tata Madiba you are sorely missed and deeply loved I try every day to carry your legacy forward I promise not to embarrass you.

Day 2864: Obstacles and Me

Obstacles are just opportunities in disguise  – that’s what I realized.

It’s 1 : 31 PM on day 2864 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Today I’m really struggling with something to the point where I feel like I could throw up the possibility of me not being able to keep my word makes me want to hurl (literally) but I’m choosing to see this obstacle as an opportunity to learn and to grow

Day 2863: July 16-23 Goals

Goals are a roadmap to where you want to go –that’s my message to the world

It’s 11 : 50 AM on day 2863 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Last Monday I set some goals and today I will again be evaluating myself to measure my progress and I’ll be setting some goals for the coming week as well. Take a look:

Day 2862: Act Out Your Faith

It’s most important to follow the Bible’s teachings when it’s most difficult– that’s what I realized.

It’s 11 : 45 AM on day 2862 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Yesterday I was having a rough day and I had a moment when I just decided to follow the Bible’s teachings in spite of my questions because most times faith is truly about actions more than feelings

Day 2861: My Toughest Critic

Be your own toughest critic– that’s my message to the world

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 2861 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Today it dawned on me that I’m hard on myself for everybody who isn’t no matter what I do and how hard I try it’s never good enough for me the words playing in my head constantly sounds something like more, more, better, faster, push harder, go, go, watching a movie is such a waste of time who will it help reading my own thoughts I’m surprised I haven’t yet had a mental breakdown I guess I’ll always set the highest expectations for myself because some people don’t expect someone in a wheelchair to amount to anything (they are in for a HUGE SURPRISE because not only am I going to amount to something I’m going to do so spectacularly and in full view of the world)

Day 2860: Short-lived ideas

Some ideas die before they are ever born we must have the courage to voice them anyway – that’s what I realized.

It’s 1 : 20 PM on day 2860 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Today I realized that an idea I’ve been working on has no future (through no fault of my own) but I’m proud that I voiced the idea and tried my upmost to make it work.

Day 2859: Mountains and Molehills

The mountains of your life are, most times, simply molehills enlarged by your thoughts– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 14 PM on day 2859 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, hang out with family and hang out outside.

Today I was sitting outside worried about how I was going to get everything down until I remembered that in the bigger scheme of things the mountains of my life are actually molehills I think oftentimes we allow our thoughts to turn molehills into mountains

Day 2858: The Incredible Siphosethu and Siphomandla

siphosethu siphomandla

Some people leave a mark on your soul  in the best way– that’s what I realized.

It’s 9 : 42 AM on day 2858 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Yesterday I met sisi Amanda’s twin cousins, Siphosethu and Siphomandla, children to a hard-working single-mother and living in the second largest township in South Africa they made it through school without getting into drugs, alcohol or becoming pregnant and now they are both in university on NSFAS loans – Siphosethu is doing a BsC Computer Science and Siphomandla is doing I.T. – I am so proud of them and proud to know them I can only imagine how proud their mother is of them (something Siphomandla said to me touched my heart so much he said his goal was to get a job so his mother could retire…there is hope yet for my generation and I’m so happy

Day 2857: “Kids Meet A Person With Cerebral Palsy”

“The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance – it is the illusion of knowledge.” – Daniel J. Boorstin

It’s 12 : 18 PM on day 2857 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and hang out with family

Recently I watched “Kids Meet A Person With Cerebral Palsy” – an informal question and answer session between kids and an adult with Cerebral Palsy – I LOVED how curious and open to learning those kids were if only more adults were like that. Watch ““Kids Meet A Person With Cerebral Palsy” below:
