My journey from utter helplessness to independence

Day 2562: “Find You” by Nick Jonas

Surround yourself with things that make you happy – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12: 06 PM on day 2562 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Ezekiel 18:32   and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 481 only $9 019 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

Yesterday I heard “Find You” by Nick Jonas it’s been on repeat just because it makes me happy. Listen to “Find You” by Nick Jonas below:

Day 2561: Accepting my Eternal State of Imperfection

To expect perfection from oneself is an exercise in futility– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 1: 07  PM on day 2561 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read  Ephesians 2:8  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – Yesterday Liesel and Anonymous made donations (thanks so much to them) which brings the total raised to $3 481 only $9 019 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Yesterday somebody asked me why I didn’t go to church and I lied  saying I overslept (I know it was wrong and I still feel guilty about it)  meanwhile I was up working on my 50 New Feet campaign for MiracleFeet but I didn’t want to say that because even though it was true it would have sounded like I was trying to make myself look like a saint and besides most people’s eyes just glaze over when I start talking about my work I don’t think they understand truly why I work so hard on things that I don’t get paid for.

Day 2560: 50 New Feet Campaign Three Months Later

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ― John Bunyan

It’s 8 : 33  AM on day 2560 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Matthew 19:25-26, have breakfast, and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Today marks the three month anniversary of my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet  so far 40 people have made donations to this campaign and between us we’ve donated $ 3 452 – enough to provide clubfoot treatments for 13 kids – I am SO GRATEFUL. Day 2559: Aghast Not

Nothing that’s meant for me will pass me by– that’s what I keep being reminded of.

It’s 11: 47  AM on day 2559 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read  Romans 6:23  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning I remembered that all my aghast in life and about life is for nothing because nothing that’s meant for me will pass me by.

Day 2558: I Try

Being proud of yourself and being arrogant are two very different things– that’s what I keep learning

It’s 12: 16  PM on day 2558 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 1 John 5:13-14   and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning looking at my bank statement I had to acknowledge quietly just to myself (and to you apparently LOL ) that although I’m far from perfect I do try to be a good human being  sometimes I succeed, most times I fail miserably but every day I  do try to be the kind of person I can be proud of.

Day 2557: The Obligation to Get Up and Never Give Up

Sometimes the classy thing to do is to stay in bed but as long as you’re still breathing it’s your obligation to get up and keep trying – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12: 41  PM on day 2557 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Jude 1:21  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning I felt like staying in bed forever and a day (sometimes I wake up extremely tired I don’t know if it’s a Cerebral Palsy thing, a human thing or a combination of both) no matter what I’m feeling I choose to get up every morning and keep trying because with the gift of every day comes the obligation to get up and make something of it.

Day 2556: A Night in the Life of An Average South African Woman

The life I’m living is someone else’s dream– that’s what I keep being reminded of.

It’s 1 : 35  PM on day 2556 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 2 Thessalonians 3:10  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning I was reminded that the life I’m living is someone else’s dream -our housekeeper told me she barely slept last night because her neighbour threatened to pour acid on her while she slept I was horrified for her I asked why she didn’t report her neighbour to the police and she basically told me the police is tied up in bureaucracy – every day I’m thankful for the problems I don’t have and the prayers I don’t have to pray sometimes I wish I could invite every person living in every township in South Africa to come stay at my house nobody deserves to live in a place filled with rats and roaches afraid that someone will break in to their dwelling, rape them or kill them in their sleep (President Zuma how about you invite some of the people who voted for you to stay in your Nkandla home you did pay for it using state money – the lack of moral fibre in my country’s current “leadership” absolutely breaks my heart and shatters my spirit).

Day 2555: My Best Friend Perseverance

Perseverance is everything – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 42  PM on day 2555 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Psalm 128:2  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Today I was reminded that perseverance is everything I live in the knowledge that if I choose not to quit (even when I feel like quitting) I will somehow eventually succeed.

Day 2554: What is Evil?

“Evil is corrupted goodness” – Mervyn Griffith

It’s 12 : 27  PM on day 2554 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 1 Thessalonians 1:3  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Yesterday at church I heard Mervyn Griffith say evil is corrupted goodness I’d never heard it put like that before but it even makes common sense all of us were created for good but things happen to some of us along the way that corrupts our goodness.

Day 2553: Congratulations Miss Earth South Africa 2017 Irini Moutzouris

True beauty comes from within – that’s what I’m realizing.

It’s 12 : 46  PM on day 2553 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read Colossians 3:23, go to church, have breakfastand promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $3 452 only $9 048 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .
