My journey from utter helplessness to independence

Day 2572: God is conspiring for me to succeed

The thoughts we hold in our minds become our realities– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 9: 13  AM on day 2572 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 12:25  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – Yesterday  Alex Forshaw of My Autistic Dance donated $25 and Russell Williams donated $100 (thanks so much to them both ) which brings the total raised to $3 681 only $8 819 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Recently I realized that the thoughts we hold in our minds become our realities so I started thinking God is conspiring for me to succeed instantly I felt happier and slowly things started turning in my favour it’s one of the most fantastic things I’ve ever experienced which is why I have decided to hold that thought in my mind forevermore.

Day 2571: “The Miracle Worker” by MiracleFeet

All of us can be a miracle in someone else’s life– that’s what I know

Recently I watched “The Miracle Worker” – a beautiful animated short film by MiracleFeet about clubfoot and the difference one person can make – and I thought everybody should see it so I’m sharing it. Watch “Miracle Worker” below:

Day 2570: Visit South Africa #WorldTourismDay

In the middle ages people were tourists because of their religion, whereas now they are tourists because tourism is their religion. – Robert Runcie

It’s 11: 52 AM on day 2570 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Esther 4:14  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

Day 2569: Kindness Doesn’t Cost

Kindness doesn’t cost a cent – that’s my message to the world

It’s 12: 43 PM on day 2569 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 2 Peter 3:9,  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

Today I made a birthday video for someone and although it didn’t cost me a cent it meant the world to him so often in life we bankrupt ourselves in an effort to express love when all people really want is a piece of our heart.

Day 2568: Decide What Defines You

If you don’t want to be defined by your difference of ability then don’t define yourself by your difference of ability – that’s my message to differently-abled people.

It’s 12: 14 PM on day 2568 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10,  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

A while ago I realized people who define themselves by their difference of ability will be defined by the world by their difference of ability I hardly ever mention the fact that I have Cerebral Palsy not because I’m ashamed of it but because in most situations it’s irrelevant (what does me fundraising for kids with clubfoot have to do with the fact that I have Cerebral Palsy?) naturally my wheelchair is visible in my videos I don’t try to hide it but I make no mention of it because Cerebral Palsy is my condition not my definition.

Day 2567: On this day 23 Years Ago…….

“For there is no friend like a sister in calm or stormy weather; To cheer one on the tedious way, to fetch one if one goes astray, to lift one if one totters down, to strengthen whilst one stands.” – Christina Rossetti

It’s 2: 37 PM on day 2567 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Habakkuk 2:3, go to church – Thanks to Reverend Howarth for allowing me to spread the word about 50 New Feet for MiracleFeet in the Vincent Methodist church – have breakfast with my family  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

On this day 23 years ago my mommy gave birth to my baby sister I was too young to know it but it was the best day ever my sister is the friend that everybody needs and the sister that every sister deserves brutally honest with you for your own good and always there for you (thinking about it makes me want to cry she left for med school 5 years ago but still makes every effort to make sure we know she hasn’t forgotten us she has called every day twice a day from the first day she was in university. Of all the things I am proud to be I’m proudest to be your sister you are everything this world should be I so admire your courage of conviction and like I told you most days I’m so glad you were born. Happy Birthday Neethu love you lots and lots♥

Day 2566: Rise Above

Bless those who curse you bless and do not curse– that’s what I learned from the Bible

It’s 1: 47 PM on day 2566 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read Lamentations 3:25-26,  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

Today I was reminded that I don’t have to reciprocate the bad behaviour exhibited  towards me instead I can pause and choose to rise above.

Day 2565: World Rhino Day and Sides Of A Horn

We are what we stand for– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 11: 48 AM on day 2565 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read  Acts 26:28-29,  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $3 556 only $9 844 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) .

This morning I woke up intending to write about something else entirely until I realized today is World Rhino Day and until I came across Sides Of A Horn – a Kickstarter project created by Toby Wosskow to fund his movie about rhino poaching titled Sides Of A Horn (I know I’m probably confusing people supporting everything from children’s health to conservation but I promise you I’m far from confused my brand is kindness to humans, animals and the planet and my goal is to use all my platforms to serve in every way that I can). If you feel inclined to do so watch the video below and support Sides Of A Horn at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tobywosskow/sides-of-a-horn.

Day 2564: Cerebral Palsy – My Blessing In Disguise

Cerebral Palsy just might be my greatest advantage– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12: 36  PM on day 2564 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read James 4:7  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – Yesterday  Anonymous donated $25 (thanks so much Anon) which brings the total raised to $3 556 only $9 8 944 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

Today I was searching the internet for physical things I could do to help raise money for 50 New Feet then I had an epiphany because of my challenges wherever I decide to do its impact will be magnified (Cerebral Palsy is totally my blessing in disguise).

Day 2563: Tony Du Preez – An Everyday Hero

“Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary.” – Gerard Way

It’s 11: 55  AM on day 2563 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  have breakfast, read  Psalm 16:11  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – Yesterday  Anonymous donated $50 (thanks so much Anon) which brings the total raised to $3 531 only $9 8 969 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning our helper, Amanda, was telling me about her friend Tony – an elderly gentlemen – who  gives her a lift to and from work ALMOST EVERY DAY expecting nothing in return (apparently she’s not the only one he does that for he does it for another guy too). WOW . If you live in East London (South Africa) and need a welder call Tony Du Preez Welding Works at 072 373 4051 (good people deserve good things to happen to them )
