My journey from utter helplessness to independence

Day 2602: Love – The Core of Christianity

“Maybe all of life is a school of love to prepare us for a life of eternal love.” – Reverend Ian Howarth

It’s 12:  41 PM on day 2602 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read Romans 8:15, go to church and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Today at church it was basically said that love is the core of Christianity and that without a love of God and a love of others anything we do or say is meaningless and I have to say I agree with that wholeheartedly we were literally born out of love (the love of God and the love between our parents) and our duty in this life (and probably in the next) is to be the embodiment of that love.

Day 2601: Let go of Little Things

Don’t hold on to the little things that don’t matter instead learn, forgive and let go of it– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 10:  17 AM on day 2601 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read Matthew 10:28 and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Yesterday something happened that had the potential to make me really angry but instead of getting angry I chose to learn, forgive and let go of it (if you give certain situations more significance than actually have you’ll be miserable forevermore).

Day 2600: Remembering Oliver Reginald Tambo #ORTambo100

“We have a vision of South Africa in which black and white shall live and work together as equals in conditions of peace and prosperity.” – Oliver Reginald Tambo

It’s 11:  37 AM on day 2600 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read Romans 5:17  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Today we here in South Africa commemorate the 100th  anniversary of the birth of the late anti-apartheid activist and ANC President, Oliver Reginald Tambo and although we could say that Tata Tambo’s vision of a non-racial South Africa has come to fruition we still have a long way to go when some live in rat-infested shacks while others live in mansions with fire pools. Happy 100th Birthday Tata Tambo I vow to carry your vision for South Africa with me and do my part to make the entirety of your vision a reality.

Day 2599: Doing My Best

Just decide you’re going to get up every day and do your best– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12:  19 PM on day 2599 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read 1 Peter 2:9  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Today I noticed that I’m hyper-focused on the results of my actions which, as you can imagine, can be deeply disheartening at times so from this day forward I’ve decided to just do my best and let the chips fall where they may.

Day 2598: Expectation and Disappointment

Expectation is the root of all disappointment – that’s what I know.

It’s 12: 03   PM on day 2598 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read  Galatians 5:24, and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – A HUGE thanks to Simon Magid donated $25  which brings the total raised to  $4 388 only $8 112 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

Today I was reminded that expectation is the root of all disappointment so I’ve just resolved not to have expectations of any situation or any person out of my control – it is better this way it saves me a lot of heartache.

Day 2597:

It’s 12: 35  PM on day 2597 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read  Romans 5:1, and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – A HUGE thanks to David Boutin, content manager at Social Quant, Inc., donated $25 who donated $50 which brings the total raised to  $4 363 only $8 137 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

(Note: Originally the rest of this blog was about a poem but the poet has for some reason changed his mind asked for it to be taken down)

Day 2596: Me and My Word

Keep your word to others and yourself – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1:  01 PM on day 2596 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read 2 Peter 1:20-21 and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 337 only $8 163 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Recently I said I’d be somewhere so even though it probably would have been a better idea for me to go the doctor to have my cough checked out I kept my word sometimes I actually think I would die before I broke my word to anyone (it’s a pity that that anyone doesn’t include me I promised myself I would always take care of me and every time I break that promise) so here I sit in front of my laptop with tissues and vapour rub occasionally coughing up green sputum hoping I don’t have an infection and even still I can’t bring myself to feel too bad about choosing  not to go to the doctor because hey at least I kept my word to someone.

Day 2595: People’s Stories and Me

Once you know people’s story how they walk through the world suddenly makes sense – that’s what I’ve  realized.

It’s 9:  11 AM on day 2595 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read 1 Kings 8:61 and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 337 only $8 163 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far)

Yesterday I met someone for the second time and while new people are usually uncomfortable around me she wasn’t at all and I figured out that it probably had a lot to do with the fact that she is a physiotherapist (if the person I’m writing about is reading this please note: I like you very much thank you so much for being so nice)

Day 2594: Different Ways of Being in Nature

There are different ways to be in nature– that’s what I’ve  realized

It’s 4:  10 PM on day 2594 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,  read Deuteronomy 28:9, promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet -raised $4 337 only $8 163 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks to everyone who has helped out so far) and have lunch with mom and a new friend .

Today thinking back to my week housebound due to a cold I realized it taught me there are different ways to be in nature you can be in nature by simply looking outside and truly noticing the beauty of the trees, flowers and the sky
