My journey from utter helplessness to independence

Day 2703: Open Doors For Others

Part of my life’s purpose is to help open doors for people that they would find hard to open by themselves – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 11 : 26 AM on day 2702 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read    and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised  $7 431 only $5 069 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks so much to everyone who has helped out so far).

A few days ago I set something into motion and yesterday stunningly everything fell into place I felt so blessed and realized that part of my life’s purpose is to help open doors for people that they would find hard to open by themselves

Day 2702: #SaveWater and #DefeatDayZero

“Water is the driving force of all nature.” – Leonardo da Vinci

It’s 1 : 56 AM on day 2702 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read  Psalm 37:37  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised  $7 431 only $5 069 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks so much to everyone who has helped out so far).

As you may or may not know Cape Town and other parts of South Africa are running dry due to lack of rain and wasteful water consumption so today I’m sharing below some tips (provided by the Department of Water and Sanitation and other stakeholders) as to how all of us can save water. No matter where you live in South Africa I implore you to take individual responsibility for your water consumption so that our actions may have a significant collective impact.

Day 2701: The Ache That Never Eases

Some aches never ease– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 1 : 25 PM on day 2701 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Matthew 11:28  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised  $7 431 only $5 069 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks so much to everyone who has helped out so far).

Recently I was sitting at this dining table working, I looked across it and suddenly I had flashbacks to sitting across from my gran holding her hand which ached more than I expected considering she’s been gone for almost three years I guess some aches never ease.

Day 2700: The Thing I Will Never Apologize For

Never apologize for expressing love, kindness and joy – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1 : 03 PM on day 2700 of my journey towards independence and I managed to go drop my sister at airport – she’s back at university after summer break –  pray, read Psalm 34:14 and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –   A HUGE thanks to Piyuse uncle and family who donated $100   which brings the total raised to  $7 401 only $5 099 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

Today I was asked by someone I love why I’m overly expressive of my feelings towards people on social media (I’m like that in real-life as well I guess it’s more noticeable on social media because I use multimedia to express my feelings) the person who asked me this is rather stoic so it must make  him  uncomfortable that I’m not at all shy about my feelings anyway in answer to his question I said I was trying to be kind I will never apologize for trying to be kind the world needs more of it and people deserve to know they are loved by me.

Day 2699: Pushing Past Apathy

You have to push past apathy to create any sort of change – that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12 : 47 PM on day 2699 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 3:5-6 ,  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –   A HUGE thanks to Rosly Renil who donated $100   which brings the total raised to  $7 301 only $5 199 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot.

Today I realized that you have to push past apathy to create any sort of change (all this time I was focus on people who show absolutely no interest in my interests meanwhile I should have been focusing on friends of friends who share my interests).

Day 2698: Contractures and Me

Be grateful no matter what – that’s my message to the world.

Yesterday I found out I have Contractures (my tendons are getting shorter from lack of use) not Osteoporosis I’m glad I don’t have Osteoporosis but having Contractures means I have to go and see my Orthopaedic surgeon  in a few days to discuss possible surgery. Yay (not) I shouldn’t complain I’m grateful that my parents can afford to get me surgery if I need it.

On this day many years ago my mommy was born. Happy Birthday mom thank you for giving us life and raising us to be people of character who are willing and able to contribute to the world. I think I was so determined to win at life because of you and FOR YOU (to prove to myself and the world that I was your blessing and not your curse) I hope I am enough and that I am doing enough. Every day I aim to be the living embodiment of the hope, faith and love I see inside you. Happy Birthday thanks again for everything we love you.

Day 2696: Inside My Head Looking Outward

If people could see inside my head they would be so surprised – that’s what I’ve realized.

This morning my sister walked into the dining room and asked why are you looking so glum? she naturally assumed I was sad about my possible Osteoporosis diagnoses meanwhile I was staring at my laptop screen frustrated that despite my best efforts I wasn’t moving more people to care about kids with clubfoot (my problems have never been the centre of my life that’s how I get through them).

Day 2695: Come What May I Choose Happiness

Come what may– that’s my new approach to life.

Yesterday I spent an entire afternoon in the radiology unit of a local hospital  getting my toe x-rayed (my sister noticed the night before that my big toe on my left foot was misshaped) the good news is it’s doesn’t have an obvious fracture nor does it appear to be dislocated but my toe might be contracted (which means I’ll need tendon-release surgery ) my sister also said she heard the doctor say I have Osteoporosis but I heard him say i need to read the report to see if a piece of the bone hasn’t broken off because of Osteoporosis whatever the report says it won’t change who I am I’m still determined to live and not merely exist I choose happiness today and always.

Day 2694: Full-Circle

Life always comes full-circle– that’s what I’ve realized.

It’s 12 : 12 PM on day 2694 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Zechariah 4:6   and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised  $6 926 only $5 574 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot (thanks so much to everyone who has helped out so far).

Yesterday I met a lovely young woman who looked at me with so much hope and awe it reminded me of the way I look at my Superhero Catherine Constantinides it was such and humbling and beautiful experience that made me realize that life always comes full-circle.
