Day 2781: Wonder by R.J. Palacio #ChooseKind

“It’s like people you see sometimes, and you can’t imagine what it would be like to be that person, whether it’s somebody in a wheelchair or somebody who can’t talk. Only, I know that I’m that person to other people, maybe to every single person in that whole auditorium. To me, though, I’m just me. An ordinary kid.” ― R.J. Palacio, Wonder

It’s 12 : 44 PM on day 2781 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast, read Acts 5:20  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –  raised  $14 409 only $4 341 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Yesterday I finished reading the incredible book Wonder by R.J. Palacio – a story  about August Pullman who was born with craniofacial difference – the book captures beautifully the joy and pain of being visibly different and it does so from August’s point of view as well as the points of view of his family members and friends (I cried and I laughed and I cried some more because I was August, my sister was Olivia and my mom was Isabelle –  the book basically captured me and our family dynamic growing up I so wanted to fit in, my family so wanted me to fit in and they also wanted to be like other families and in many ways we were but in many ways we weren’t I, like August, will never fit in because I wasn’t meant to I was born to stand out). I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book if I had to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 I’d give it ONE BILLION because it’s spreading the message that different is cool and that kindness is cool which is what I try to do in my life every day.

Day 2516: The Miracle of Being Alive

Never lose your sense of wonder– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 10 : 49 AM on day 2516 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Romans 5:8,  have breakfast and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet – raised to $2 602 only $9 897 more to raise  by June 17, 2018 to help 50 kids with clubfoot .

This morning sitting at our dining table I couldn’t help thinking what a miracle it was to be alive sometimes we get caught up in the day to day tasks of life that the miracle of being alive is lost on us (think about it: there were a lot of people who were alive yesterday who didn’t wake up today and yet you and me get another chance to get things right).
