Celebrating My Superhero Catherine Constantinides and Her Values

“Leaders don’t just get listed in history books they live amongst us. The world awaits our great contribution.” – Catherine Constantinides

Today is one of my favorite days of the year because it’s my Superhero Catherine Constantinides’s birthday I’ve never been the kind to get awestruck by people but whenever I’m around My Superhero or am talking to her on the phone I turn into a child excited by Christmas morning and I allow myself to be that way only around her and for her – she deserves to know every day that she is adored by me. Happy Birthday Superhero I LOVE YOU to the moon and more than the stars.

In the video below I talk about the values I love most in My Superhero Catherine Constantinides

Day 3152: Vision and Values

Decide who you are and stick with it– that’s my message to the world

It’s 12: 07 PM on day 3152 since I started blogging and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and work on my 28 For 28 Campaign benefiting charity:water  – we’ve now raised $2 598 of $28 000 with 54 days to go

Today I was reminded by life that it is in the toughest circumstances that it is most important to hold on to one’s vision for the world and personal values.

Day 2839: Living For Timeless Ideals and Values

The point is not to live forever it’s to stand for ideals and values that do  – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 1 : 20 PM on day 2839 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse and do some work

The older I get the more I realize the importance of working on causes the results of which I may never see. The point of life is not immortality it’s to stand for the timeless ideals of freedom, justice and equality and to create something that will outlive us all.

Day 2233: How to Be Your Best When You Treat and React to People

Treat people better than they treat you and react to them based on your values and not your feelings and you’ll never have anything to apologize for – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 11 :  09 AM on day 2233 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read Galatians 5:24,  learn one new thing – As sea turtles are air breathing reptiles, they need to surface to breathe. Sea turtles can hold their breath for several hours, depending upon the level of activity. A resting or sleeping turtle can remain underwater for 4-7 hours. – and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $8 136.04 only  $4 363.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Yesterday I realized that if you treat people better than they treat you and react to them based on your values and not your feelings you’ll never have anything to apologize for (when you decide to treat people the way they treat you or react to them based on how you feel at the time it ALWAYS ends up being a disaster because you’re in the moment but if you  make a life decision that no matter what you’re going to treat people better than they treat you and react to them based on your values then you’ll be your best in all situations).

Day 2183: Keep Your Values

Just decide that you’re going to keep your values at all cost – that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2183 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Matthew 6:26-27, have breakfast,  learn one new thing – Power lines are thin and may be difficult to see by even low-flying aircraft, and we don’t want airplanes colliding with them. The big marker balls are there to warn airplanes of the power lines.-   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –    raised $7 600 only  $4 900 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Today I realized that the most decision I have ever made is the decision to keep my values at all cost sometimes it’s not easy but I refuse to sell out (please God help me not to).

Day 2073: 5 Life Goals and 15 Values

“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.” – Roy E. Disney

It’s 12 : 13  AM on day 2073 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Proverbs 12:1, have breakfast, learn one new thing – Fireflies light up to attract a mate. To do this, the fireflies contain specialized cells in their abdomen that make light. The cells contain a chemical called luciferin and make an enzyme called luciferase. To make light, the luciferin combines with oxygen to form an inactive molecule called oxyluciferin.– and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign   – raised $5 749 only $501 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far  🙂 ).

Recently I wrote down my life goals and values and I was pleasantly surprised to see that I was living all my life goals and most (if not all) of my values. Take a look:

My Life Goals and Values

My goals in life:

  1. Make a difference
  2. Appreciate the little things (because indeed they are the big things in disguise)
  3. Shatter disability stereotypes
  4. Help my family and friends get wherever they want to go in life
  5. Be a super nice human

My values

  1. Love
  2. Honesty
  3. Loyalty
  4. Integrity
  5. Respect
  6. Humility
  7. Commitment
  8. Gratitude
  9. Generosity
  10. Kindness
  11. Compassion
  12. Perseverance
  13. Justice
  14. Fairness
  15. Equality

(Note: I added respect and equality today)

Day 1725: My beliefs, Values and Notes to my Future Self

You can’t live your beliefs and values if you don’t know what they are – that’s what I realized yesterday.

It’s 12 :  00 PM on day 1725 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Amos 7, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing  –Colombia, located at the northwestern tip of South America, is part of the Ring of Fire. The 25,000-mile horseshoe arc around the Pacific is the most active volcano area in the world. It’s home to some 450 volcanoes—over 75 percent of all volcanoes on Earth. feed myself egg with bread for breakfast,   promote my Educate Generations campaign– $3 025 raised so far so grateful 🙂 – and  watch Oprah’s MasterClasses featuring successful people –  (I always look to learn from other people’s lives so I don’t make the same mistakes that they made and so that I can copy the things they did to become successful)  .

Yesterday after watching a short clip of Morgan Freeman talking about the importance of holding on to one’s principals I wrote down my beliefs, values and notes to my future self knowing I wouldn’t be able to live my beliefs and values unless I really knew what they were. Take a look:

My beliefs, Values and Notes to my Future Self

My beliefs

  1. I believe in God (there has to be a higher power how else can I explain my life God has taken someone who some people see as broken and is using her (me) to make a difference).
  2. I believe I am an extremely flawed human being who is trying her best to be a good person and because of that I believe I deserve the best from other people and from life.

My values (or at least the values I hold dear and aspire to)

  1. Honesty
  2. Kindness
  3. Compassion
  4. Generosity
  5. Humility
  6. Loyalty
  7. Fairness
  8. Equality

Notes to my future self

  1. Have faith (Hold on to God in good times, bad times and all the times in between knowing that every experience you go through is designed to help you become who you were meant to be).
  2. Take care of yourself (eat well, exercise and go to the doctor (when necessary)).
  3. To thyself be true (there will only be one you in the history of humanity don’t waste who you are trying to be a copy of someone else).
  4. If someone tries to get you to do things that are against your values GET AWAY from them and do it FAST (sometimes you go along just to get along and some people can spot that and try to use that to get you to do what they want you to do and once you compromise on your values once they’ll expect you to do it again and again).
  5. Be grateful (if ten years from now you whine about how crappy your life is I’ll come back from the past and kick your butt because no matter how bad things may be there’s ALWAYS something to be grateful for).
  6. Let your guard down (I know that it’s hard for you to let people in because of the way you think people perceive you but you can’t go through your whole life without friendships full of love and trust who knows what might happen if you allow yourself to be venerable with people it may result in lifelong friendships or not either way you will have had the courage to risk your heart).
  7. Express your feelings more (what’s the use of feeling things for people if you keep those feelings to yourself).
  8. Forgive yourself and others quickly (you expect yourself to be an exemplary human being and sometimes you fail miserably it’s ok forgive yourself then extend that forgiveness to other people when they fail to meet your expectations).
  9. Have fun (this is something that I’m having a really hard time doing right now hopefully you’ll have a better time of it).

Day 1593: Achieving goals while keeping morals and values intact

Hold on to your morals and values – that’s what I have to keep reminding myself.

It’s 12 : 10 PM on day 1593 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth,  pray,  read Jeremiah 10, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing – Stars go through many phases of life, much like other organic beings. When a star is dying, it turns into a “white dwarf”, when the star uses up all of the chemicals required for its nuclear fusion reaction, it will fuse a large clump, which will emit white light until it finally darkens for good –  feed myself bread with egg and a banana for breakfast and  promote my Educate Generations campaignWayne Mansfield shared his birthday gift with me by donating $200  (thanks SO MUCH Wayne and Happy Birthday your ongoing support means the world to me my family and friends like you are the wind beneath my wings  🙂 )  which brings my total raised to $1 630 only $870 more to raise to reach goal.

Recently I discovered that with age it gets harder and harder to hold on to your morals and values but I am determined (God help me) to achieve all my goals with all my morals and values intact.

Day 251

I am not as perfect as I thought I was – that’s what I learned today 🙁

It’s 7: 25 PM on day 251 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to finish reading A Purloined Life – the first of two books in Stella Cameron‘s Charmed – it was a typical romance novel … so predictable 🙁 – brush my teeth, feed myself two-minute noodles for breakfast, publish my Kid of the Week feature featuring 12-year-old Elliot Mast (@elliotmast) – Elliot’s such a sweet boy he sent a short and sweet thank-you note a few hours later – Elliot as I said in my reply I am SO proud of you 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, watch TV, tweet and Facebook about my Clean Water For All Campaign –no luck – feed myself Chapati for dinner and continue to tweet and Facebook about campaign – still no luck 🙁

As you know I pride myself on honest but today when my father looked at my bank balance and said you only have a $100 in here I felt like a loser so I responded by saying I’ll get more money next week advertisers are paying me – I lied – but now I realize that I had no reason to lie and that it’s okay to make mistakes once in a while. Have you ever said or done something that has shattered your self-image?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://www.twitter.com/nisha360

if you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna.
