Day 1260: Is your fear of rejection stopping you from achieving your dreams?

Once you let go of your fear of rejection you can achieve almost anything – that’s what I realized today.

It’s 12  : 08 PM on day 1260 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray,  brush my teeth,  read Esther 4,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  feed myself egg with bread for breakfast, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles,   promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – nobody donated so far today either – stretch my hamstrings and promote my campaign some more – still no luck.

Last night I spent a few hours on Twitter telling people about my Eradicate AIDS campaign and asking them to donate one person wished me well while another said she would donate when she could at this point in my life I have no problem asking people for anything the worst anybody can say is no and since I’ve heard no many times and survived I know that I will be fine whether people choose to help me or not. Is your fear of rejection stopping you from achieving your dreams?

Day 1227: Pushing past bad days to achieve success

“Life is not a success only journey.” – Dr.Phil

It’s 12  : 27 PM on day 1227 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,   read 2 Chronicles 30, feed myself All Bran Flakes for breakfast,  publish my Disability of the Day feature,  promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – no donations so far today I am not worried God is with me and I’m working hard I can’t fail I just have to be patient and continue working hard – practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles, stretch my hamstrings, spend time outside – I sometimes go sit outside by myself some people think it’s weird but I enjoy it and that’s all that counts 🙂 – and promote my campaign some more – still no donations so far today.

Today I feel like every door I knock on is being slammed in my face but I’ve decided to keep going knowing something good is right around the corner. Do you expect to be successful every day of your life and feel disappointed when you aren’t?

Day 1028: My definition of success

Success is following your dreams– that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s 1  : 25  PM on day 1028 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray,   brush my teeth, take off my dirty hoodie and t-shirt and put on a clean -t-shirt – our new weekend housekeeper cracks me up she looks at me after I changed my clothes with great difficulty and says rather matter-of-factly you make things difficult for yourself she’s right it would be easier for me to ask someone to change my clothes for me but I decided a long time ago that I would rather have a hard, independent life than an easy, dependent life –    feed myself  a boiled egg and All Bran Flakes for breakfast, read Joshua 11, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  publish my Kid of the Week feature,  play catch outside with my brother – while playing catch my brother says let’s take a break to which I say no, I want to play and he says look [at the scenery] with your heart and not your eyes I was blown away keep in mind the kid is only 12 🙂 –   tweet and Facebook about my campaign – still no luck -and  practice typing with both hands.

Yesterday afternoon I was thinking about success and what it means to be successful in my community success is growing up, going to school, going to university, getting a well-paying job, getting married to a suitable guy, having a couple of kids and living happily ever after success for me is getting up every day and trying to make a difference and by that definition I’m extremely successful.  Have you created your own definition of success and are you successful according to that definition?

Day 829

As long as you don’t quit you have a chance to succeed– that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s  1 : 14 PM on day 829 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, publish my Disability of the Day feature, practice typing with both hands, practice sitting up straight to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my hamstrings.

As you may know it’s very hard for me to do things for myself in the hygiene department – Cerebral Palsy causes people to have poor motor skills so it’s hard for me to do the simplest things –  but every day I try to get better at it and today while trying to help myself in the bathroom I realized as long as I didn’t quit I had a chance of succeeding maybe not today or tomorrow or the next day but someday I would be able to do things by myself that’s true for everyone as long as you don’t quit you still have a shot at your dream. Do you give yourself a chance to succeed?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.

Day 282

Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm. – Sir Winston Churchill

It’s 7: 47 PM on day 282 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself French fries and a mango sandwich for breakfast, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – eleven days and counting without a donation – watch TV, tweet about my campaign – no luck –  feed myself rice and curry for lunch, email Salt & Necter – I figured since they wrote about Oprah’s final show they would be willing to write about someone who was inspired by Oprah 🙂 – feed myself rice and curry for dinner, watch some more TV and brush my teeth once more.

Two days ago I received an email in response to my sponsorship request (if you have no idea what I’m talking about refer ‘Day 277’) and it read in part Please may you send through a formal letter with a letter head as PnP only support charity organizations and not individuals. and although I was severely bummed out at the time I now realize that real change comes from the actions of ordinary people such as you and I so I am asking you to spread the word about Virginia’s Sandwich Run and donate if you can. Do you fail at everything you do because you give up the first time you hear a no?

Day 267

If you can get paid for doing what you love, every paycheck is a bonus. – Oprah Winfrey

It’s 7: 00 PM on day 267 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself a polony sandwich for breakfast watch TV, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign –no luck I have to try something different prayer, sponsorship etc because it’s obvious that social media won’t carry me to the finish line :(– feed myself pasta and sauce for dinner, watch some more TV and brush my teeth once more.

Yesterday Bonnie (@Bonnie67) sent me a Facebook message which said in part I hope you don’t take this the wrong way but when I read your blogs they make me smile and laugh. Reason being is because of my right arm being fracture twice and the bone thinning plus arthritis in it and it shakes all the time. I have trouble opening things and our kids want to do it open whatever I’m trying to open. I look at them and say I’m not helpless. Just knowing I’m not the only one going through things like this makes it so much easier to cope. Because others don’t understand what you’re going through. and when I read that I couldn’t help feeling as though I had succeeded in my life because although I REALLY appreciate the money I make from this blog the reason I started blogging in the first place was to share my life and make people feel less alone. Is your paycheck a bonus or the only reason you show up for work in the morning?
