Day 2202: Happy 22nd Birthday Baby Sister

“A sister is both your mirror – and your opposite. “ – Elizabeth Fishel

It’s 11 : 22  AM on day 2202 of my journey towards independence and I managed to have breakfast, pray, read Habakkuk 2:3, hang out with family and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $7 675 only  $4 825 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Today is my little sister’s 22nd birthday and this year is extra special because she’s here with us. Happy Birthday Neethu it’s been an honour and a privilege to watch you grow and to grow with you (I would cry to keep you any day).

Day 1836: Happy 21st Birthday to my Baby Sister

“If you don’t understand how a woman could both love her sister dearly and want to wring her neck at the same time, then you were probably an only child.” – Linda Sunshine

It’s 12 : 21  PM on day 1836  of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read John 2,    publish my Disability of the Day feature,  learn one new thing –Leatherbacks are the largest turtles on Earth, growing up to seven feet (two meters) long and exceeding 2,000 pounds (900 kilograms).– and promote my Educate Generations campaign – $5 025 raised so far with 9 days still to go (thanks everyone :) ) .

Today is my sister’s 21st birthday (where has the time gone?) my sister and I definitely have our moments sometimes we want to kill each other but when push comes to shove we have each other’s backs. Happy Birthday Neethu I can honestly say something would be missing from the world if you weren’t in it.

Day 1472: Happy 20th Birthday Neethu

“Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there.” ~ Amy Li

It’s 1 : 28 PM on day 1472 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, brush my teeth, read Proverbs 10, publish my Disability of the Day feature, feed myself egg with bread and a banana  for breakfast and work on my upcoming campaign – I’ve been asking people for donations before this campaign even starts so far I’ve been touched but people’s generosity so far only a few people have said no and they weren’t even proper nos those nos were more like we’ll see I have never had as much hope in humanity as I do right now 🙂

Today is my sister’s birthday on this day twenty years ago my sister was born and although I don’t remember the day of my sister’s birth I can honestly say my life wouldn’t be the same without her from her I learned to be bold and fearless I wish for her a life filled with meaning and happiness. Happy Birthday Neethu we love you.

Day 845

Change is neither good nor bad it just is what it is – that’s what I keep learning 🙂

It’s  6 : 37 PM on day 845 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, go shopping for clothes for my sister to take to university – it was confirmed yesterday that my sister has been accepted into the University of Cape Town for medicine we are all SO proud of her 🙂 – prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature,    feed myself rice and curry for lunch and try to help myself in the bathroom – I keep trying  to help myself in the bathroom and my mom keeps getting in the way I don’t think she gets that by “helping” me she’s helping me right into helplessness I tried to explain that to her on numerous occasions I don’t know what to do anymore if things keep going the way they are going when i’m older i’ll either be put in a home or I’ll be living with my siblings which is my worst nightmare I want to travel the world (I most want to go to Paris), help people and live a full life 🙂

Today as we were shopping for clothes for my sister to take to university it dawned on me that she was leaving I still think of her as the little girl who spat up yoghurt on my cousins I suppose that’s what happens if you’re lucky you grow up and you move away. Do you resist change?

I LOVE hearing from you feel free to leave a comment below.
