Day 1804: A Mother’s Sorrow

A child will never know a mother’s sorrow – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s  1 :  30  PM on day 1804 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Mark 10, publish my Disability of the Day feature, publish my Kid of the Week feature,   have breakfast,  learn one new thing –Peppers are actually fruits. Why? Simply because they are produced from a flowering plant and contain seeds, though, most people think of them as vegetables. – and promote my Educate Generations campaign –  $4 601 raised so far (thanks so much for the support everyone :) ).

Last night my mom and I were talking about how all the people my age were getting married and I saw sorrow in her eyes that said damn it that should be you too when I was younger the differences between my life and the lives of my friends weren’t that noticeable now it’s glaringly obvious my friends are on their own and walking down the aisle while I’m 24 and still living with my parents I tried to inject a bit of humour into the conversation by saying something like don’t hate let’s be happy for them but I can’t say I would feel any different if I were in her shoes it must hurt like hell to feel like your daughter is being left behind (it’s not true, of course,  I have my own path in life but that’s probably the way she feels) (mom I know that my life isn’t turning out the way you probably thought it would but I know that God gave me Cerebral Palsy so that people could see Him in the things I do and in me so please try not to feel sorrowful for me I was meant to live an extraordinary life).

Day 1237: Happy Birthday Mom

An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy. – Rudyard Kipling

It’s 1  : 22 PM on day 1237 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Ezra 4, feed myself eggs with bread for breakfast, promote my Eradicate AIDS campaign – my aunt and uncle donated $100 (thank you aunty and uncle)  which brings my total raised to $233.85 I am so happy and grateful :)– publish my Disability of the Day feature,  help our housekeeper make scones – it’s my mom’s birthday today and I really wanted to do something nice for her so I enlisted our housekeeper’s help and we made scones (I read out the recipe and instructed her on what to do and she did it)  hopefully mom will enjoy the scones when she gets back – and chatted to our neighbor – she came by to drop off the pudding she made for mom’s birthday she’s the sweetest woman she remembers all our birthdays and brings us all something people like her make me want to be a better person.

Today is my mother’s birthday which is an important day to me because I wouldn’t be who I am without her she has taught me faith, love and strength. Happy Birthday mom thank you for all the lessons you’ve taught me and all the things you do for me I hope I’m the kind person you can be proud of.
