Day 2782: Freedom Day 2018

“My freedoms must mean that I unlock the freedoms of others.” – Catherine Constantinides

It’s 12 : 55 PM on day 2782 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, have breakfast, read Jonah 2:6, hang out with very special people,  and promote my 50 New Feet Campaign benefiting MiracleFeet –  raised  $14 409 only $4 341 more to raise by June 17, 2018 to reach my new goal of helping 75 kids with Clubfoot by June 17, 2018.

Today as South Africa celebrates Freedom Day –  a day that commemorates the day in 1994 when the first democratic election was held in South Africa – I believe our gratitude for our freedoms can be expressed by what we do with them. How will you use your freedoms to better South Africa and the world? Happy Freedom Day South Africa.

Watch: Social Cohesion Advocate, Catherine Constantinides speaks about Freedom Day and what it means to her:

Day 2417: Freedom Day 2017

“The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class-it is the cause of human kind, the very birthright of humanity.” – Anna Julia Cooper

It’s 11 : 11   AM on day 2417 of my journey towards independence and I managed to , pray, have breakfast, read   Jonah 2:6  and learn a new word – Definitions for Pollyanna
(often lowercase).1. unreasonably or illogically optimistic: some pollyanna notions about world peace. Also, Pollyannaish. 2. an excessively or blindly optimistic person.

Today as South Africa celebrates twenty-three years of freedom I understand that there’s a lot still to be done but I can’t help but marvel at how far we’ve come. I fight for the South Africa of my dreams but I also celebrate this country’s every victory. Happy Freedom Day South Africa let’s continue to use our freedoms to make South Africa and the world a better place.

Day 2052: Happy Freedom Day

“Let freedom reign. The sun never set on so glorious a human achievement.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s 12: 41 PM on day 2052 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Matthew 23, have breakfast, learn one new thing – The average adult dog has 42 teeth: 22 in the mandible or lower jaw, and 20 in the maxilla or upper jaw. In each jaw there are 6 incisors, 2 canines, and 8 premolars. There are 6 molars in the lower jaw and 4 in the upper jaw. In adult dogs, approximate age can be determined by checking the wear on the incisors. –  and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign  -yesterday LA made a donation (thank you so much LA for always being there for me it sounds funny but i can feel the force of your love from across the ocean it’s one of the most beautiful things I’m experiencing in this life ) which brings the total raised to $5 590 only $660 more to raise before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far 🙂).

Today is Freedom Day – a day that commemorates the day in 1994 when the first democratic election was held in South Africa – I’ve been thinking a lot about freedom and what it means to be free I have freedom which gives me the right to do whatever I please and with that freedom comes a responsibility that I take very seriously, a responsibility to make South Africa and the world a better place. Thank you to South Africa’s freedom fighters who scarified everything so that my generation and generations to come would have the opportunity to make our mark on the world I promise I won’t let you down.

Day 1687: Happy Freedom Day South Africa

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” – Nelson Mandela

It’s 11 : 40 AM on day 1687 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray,  read Ezekiel 47, publish my Disability of the Day feature, learn one new thing –Never go up against a pupfish in a breath-holding contest. This wee swimmer, resident of warm springs near Death Valley in California, can go with almost no oxygen for up to five hours at a time, according to a new study due out this year –  feed myself oat and banana for breakfast  and  promote my Educate Generations campaign– $2 700 raised so far .

Today is Freedom Day here in South Africa which, this year, marks 21 years since our first democratic election and though we still face many challenges as a country none are greater than the ones we’ve already overcome I am so proud to be South African. Happy Freedom Day South Africa. Use your freedom to better the lives of others.
