Day 3068: Celebrate Life in All Its Complexities

Life is to be celebrated – that’s my message to the world

It’s 1: 03 PM on day 3068 since I started blogging and I managed to pray, read a Bible verse, spend time outside and do some work

Today as I was headed back inside from my hours outside I raised both my arms and screamed repeatedly at the top of my lungs I AM ALIVE, I AM ALIVE my life is hard and heartbreaking and yes sometimes oh sometimes I feel so cheated that I may never have some things but I do love life and love being I love seeing aeroplanes and blue-sky days, I love birds and trees, I love knowing that I will form part of the history of humanity, I love knowing that there will never again be another me

Day 2966: The Fragility of Life

Life is fragile appreciate the people in your life– that’s my massage to the world.

It’s 11 : 52 AM on day 2966 of my journey towards independence and I managed to  spend time outside, read a Bible verse  and do some work

This morning I heard some news which reminded me of the fragility of life we should all hug more and stay on the phone longer with people we love seriously the items on our to-do lists will always be there the people we love may not be.

Day 2932: Happy Alive Day to Me

Being alive is a privilege not an obligation – that’s what I want the world to know.

It’s 2 : 08 PM on day 2932 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,   read a Bible verse and do some work

On this day seven months ago I was being wheeled into an operating theatre for my contracture surgery I was on that morning I remember sitting in our dining room thinking “just one more sunrise” – let me live to see another sunrise. I’m so grateful every day that I made it out of that OR alive. Happy Alive Day to me!

Day 2272: Christmas Appreciation Challenge

“The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.” – Dalai Lama

It’s 11: 20 AM on day 2272 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray,   read   Hosea 6:3 and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –raised $9 161.04 only  $3 338.96 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ).

Last night I challenged my friends to call at least three people who help them or love them with no expectation of gratitude and tell them how much they appreciate them and now I’m challenging all of you to do the same. Tis the season for giving and gratitude so give your love.

Day 2179: Appreciate Life

Life is short appreciate every moment– that’s my message to the world.

It’s 12 : 00  PM on day 2179 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read 2 Chronicles 15:7, listen to Catherine Constantinides on DJ Sbu Breakfast – she was talking about her adventures in the U.S. and other stuff –  have breakfast, learn one new thing –A male lobster is called a cock and a female a hen or chicken (when it weighs about one pound). A one-clawed lobster is called a cull. If it has no claws, it’s called a pistol.-   and work on my  25 Smiles Campaign    –    raised $7 600 only  $4 900 more to raise to reach my second goal of raising $12 500 for Smile Train before Jan 10 2017 (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far ) .

Last night someone very dear to me passed away it’s been shocking and heartbreaking but I know that the pain I feel pales in comparison to what his family must be feeling he was such an amazing man so full of laughter and life and he could talk to just about anyone I will miss visiting him and just knowing he’s around.

Day 2044: Water Appreciation

You don’t know what you got till it’s gone – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 00 PM on day 2044 of my journey towards independence and I managed to pray, read Revelation 21,   have breakfast, listen to The Good Stuff – a radio show that brings us good news stories from around the globe  – learn one new thing – Sharks have a tongue referred to as a “basihyal”. The basihyal is a small, thick piece of cartilage located on the floor of the mouth of sharks and other fishes. It appears to be useless for most sharks with the exception of the cookiecutter shark.  –  and work on my 25 Smiles Campaign –  raised $5 506 only $744  more to raise by 10 Jan 2017  (SO SO SO GRATEFUL to everyone who has supported this campaign so far :)  ).

Yesterday one of the water pipes in our town broke and since then nobody in town has had water I have always appreciated water but now I appreciate it even more doing the most basic things without water is a challenge. Conserve and appreciate water it is one of our most precious resources.

Day 1541: My Newfound Appreciation for Water

You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 12 : 06 PM on day 1541 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to pray, read Isaiah 26,   publish my Disability of the Day feature, stretch my hamstrings,  promote my Educate Generations campaign– on $940  – feed myself egg with bread and bananas for breakfast, read and comment on How To Benefit From Your Blog Community and continue promoting my campaign – still on $940 but I’m working on changing that 🙂

This morning we woke up to find that we had no water I always knew water was important I just didn’t realize how essential it was in daily life until we didn’t have it.

Day 1510: Your efforts going unappreciated? Appreciate your own efforts

Just because some people don’t notice or appreciate what you do doesn’t mean that what you do isn’t important – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 1 : 52 PM on day 1510 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, pray, read Song of Song 5, publish my Disability of the Day feature,  feed myself egg with bread and a pear for breakfast,  and promote my Educate Generations campaign –  still on $750 but I am going to have a really good attitude about this Nelson Mandela and company spent years of their lives fighting for freedom so that someone like me could have a chance to change the world so I’m not going to give up with God working in me and through me I will reach campaign goal eventually I just KNOW it 🙂

This morning something happened that made me realize yet again that just because some people don’t notice or appreciate what I do doesn’t mean that what I do isn’t important the truth is there are some people in my life who will never notice or appreciate the things I do and I have to learn to accept that and give myself the pat on the back that I wish I got from them. Do you feel like what you do isn’t important when people don’t notice or appreciate it?

Day 1465: Is the miracle of being alive lost on you?

Never let the miracle of being alive be lost on you – that’s my message to the world.

This morning laying in bed I said good morning God what can I do for you today there are days when I don’t want the challenges that come with having Cerebral Palsy but in general I see my life as a gift to be treasured. Is the miracle of being alive lost on you?

Day 1427: The moment I truly appreciated being South African

The things we take for granted are the things that other people pray for – that’s what I keep realizing.

It’s 1  : 29  PM on day 1427 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, go back to bed, pray, read Psalm 115, feed myself egg with bread for breakfast, read the newspaper,  publish my Disability of the Day feature and  publish my Kid of the Week feature.

This morning I read that religious minorities in Iraq are facing possible genocide it was in that moment that I truly appreciated being South African this country has its share of problems but everybody who lives here has freedom of religion, freedom of speech and freedom of association.
