Day 2719: Post-Op and a Flashback Movie of my Extraordinary Mother’s Yesterday

Mothers are extraordinary beings– that’s what I was reminded of yesterday

i’m so ch in pain i’m going to chill

Yesterday night I couldn’t sleep because I had slept for a while after my surgery so I looked to my left at my mother sleeping in a contorted position in a LazyBoy the nurse had brought her and I thought this must be what true love is which brought the memories of the day flooding back with tears I remembered my mother walking straight into the operating room with me stopping only to put on scrubs and asking for permission as a formality she watched as I yelped in pain while the anaesthesiologist tried and failed to get a needle into my vein and commended me to look at her instead of the needle and when the anaesthesiologist decided to use gas instead of needles my mother looked on as I breathed deeply the gas eventually falling unconscious my mother told me when I woke up that even after I was unconscious the doctors didn’t kick her out instead she admitted she left  of her own free-will because she was too squeamish to watch people cut me up but you best believe she was one of the first faces I saw when I woke up…so blessed to still be alive and so blessed to have been birthed by a woman who is the definition of mothe
