Day 387

We have to teach kids that nobody but them is responsible for their lives – that’s what I learned today 🙂

It’s 6: 49 PM on day 387 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself yoghurt for breakfast,  prepare and publish my Disability of the Day feature,  tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign –no luck – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, exercise for a few minutes –my hamstrings were SO tight – and watch TV.

Today I said to my brother I challenge you to do fifty push-ups – he’s overweight according to his paediatrician – to which he responded if I accept your challenge will you let me use the laptop I thought about it for a minute and said no I won’t bribe you to take care of your body in that moment I realized that that’s where most parents go wrong they beg and plead with their kids to do their homework, exercise, ect when they should be trying to make them understand that if they don’t do what their supposed to do they are the ones who will pay in the end. Are you teaching your kids that they and only they are responsible for the outcome of their lives?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

I don’t want to judge especially since I don’t have kids myself but I always ask this question when I see it happening. I wonder if it would be different if I had them myself? However I agree with your comments. Today there is just too much of this going on. How will one ever learn the true value of hard work. Plus there is a huge gratification when you do the work ourselves. One will only understand this should they follow this motto.

Thanks for writing a great blog 🙂

You’re welcome and as for if things would be different if you had your own kids I guess you’ll find out if/when you have your own kids 🙂

    Hi Nisha

I can say yes I’m. But i can say
our kids get plenty of excise. But
take me I couldn’t walk for about 5
years and because i was broad i would
eat but the thing is i wouldn’t eat healthy
foods but junk food and soda. So after my
knee operations I started walking 4 miles
5 days a week. I didn’t eat any junk food but
i let myself have 1 soda a week as a reward.

Now I’ve trouble walking again but i’m not giving up.

I think with your brother you should make a deal
with him that if he excise for 5 days during the
week than he can go on your computer and all so
i think a blog for him would be good to keep track
what he is doing and how much weight he has lost.
Than if he see what happing to his body he will be glad
plus having people comment on his blog would encourage
    him more to keep going.

Good for you never give up 🙂 I suggested to my brother that he start a blog and he said he’s too busy with school but who knows maybe he’ll change his mind 🙂

    Yours truly,
    Nisha
