Day 349

Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless. – Sherry Anderson (Thanks, Kathy)

It’s 7: 05 PM on day 349 of my journey towards independence and I’ve managed to brush my teeth, feed myself bread and baked beans for breakfast, publish my Kid of the Week feature – even now thinking of Rachel’s story makes me want to cry tears of joy and sorrow at the same time – read it and you’ll see why – feed myself rice and curry for lunch, tweet about my Clean Water For All Campaign – no luck this afternoon but Laura (@laurajteacheroz) did make a donation yesterday only I had already published yesterday’s post by the time I saw it so I couldn’t mention it – Laura is so great a couple of months ago she promised to donate $50 when I raised $500 more and although I had long forgotten about her promise she kept her  word – thanks Laura I LOVE you 🙂 – feed myself fried chicken, baked beans and bun for dinner , brush my teeth once more and  tweet about my campaign some more–I posted another tweet about it just before I came over here to finish this post read tomorrow’s post to find out if anyone did.

Today somebody – I won’t mention who – said to my sister just as she was leaving Neethu good luck with your studies study hard and all I got was goodbye Nisha and in that moment I remembered all those times when I would tell people that I was raising money to build a well and they would say in a patronizing tone oh that’s nice dear why am I telling you this to remind you to leave your ego at the door when you interact with people because ALL work has value. Do you applaud volunteers or look down on them because they’ve chosen to turn their backs on materialism?

Are we connecting on Twitter? If not, say hi at http://twitter.com/Nisha360

If you’ve given to my cause or you can’t give now, please help me by sharing my cause with others. You can tweet about it like my friend Stan Faryna. This is the tweet he uses: @Nisha360 is a brave, smart young woman trying to make a better world for us all. Please help her do an amazing thing. http://bit.ly/hC7vOu

Stan’s very sweet for saying so, but feel free to write what reflects you best.

Thanks to all my friends out there who are helping me make my dream come true: to make a better world for all of us!

I applaud you Nisha, as what you are doing has equal (if not more) value…. than what others choose to do with their time. Your efforts for humanity are priceless.

A promise is a promise & it’s a real honour to help you go about achieving this sensational goal of a well in India or Africa. The total in rising so quickly, I turned my back for a small while & well in excess of $500 had been donated. Great Work Nisha 🙂 Hugs, Laura xx

Thank you and as for raising the money quickly that’s partly thanks to my friend Bonnie (@bonnie67) she’s really been helping me quite a bit by writing posts and tweeting 🙂

    Yours truly,
    Nisha
